Wow. The uses for a S60 smartphone just keep on growing. AAS friend Saku Tiainen has just released BeatEd, a full, professional drum sequencer/machine - just plug in your headphone lead from your smartphone into an amp and you're away! Break out your guitar and start rockin' out. Links and video demo below the break, enjoy!

That is a seriously cool piece of coding!

It seems that it would be a relatively small leap to implement a full MOD tracker on S60, especially considering the Amiga demo heritage of the author's group... :)

Fantastic! Fist steps on what I hope is a Bhajis Loops solution for S60 devices. I would pay any money to get a full sequencer back in my pocket!!

You can now add the Nokia E61 to the list of supported devices. Nice work!

I've been waiting for something like this to pop up since I got a Symbian phone. Excellent!

I really like this beat-sequencer, for people who still have an old symbian device (like me n-gage :), there is a full tracker from http://slajerek.demon.pl/mobitracker/, i am not sure if the developer will be happy i posted the link here, but this software may not be unnoticed :) I hope Saku/byterapers will make a full tracker from BeatEd, so we can use new devices (allthought i still love my n-gage)...

Nice one Saku - i'm approaching my 40's and can clearly recall looking at Roland drum machines as a teenager, lol, now i can have it on my phone(s), its tested and working well on my N95 and my N73, both phones have the latest firmwares too.

Keep up the good work!

There are couple of new BeatEd sample kits available for download. Both kits are provided by BeatEd users. If you have your own ideas for a good drum kit, please check the "Own sample kits help" info on BeatEd homepage. I would be very pleased to publish good sample kits by all you BeatEd fans on the download page.
