It states on the google earth plus page: Verified support for Magellan and Garmin devices only.

While I wouldnt mind buying google earth plus, Id like to know if Symarctic ExtGPS works using it. Obviously its not supported, but Id like to know before shelling out around £10, otherwise thats a tenner wasted.

So if anyone has google earth plus, could they try it and report back?

I could email them, but I suspect Id just get back a 'we only support garmin and magellen (or whatever they were) but other GPS devices may work.'

I would if I was that interested in it, however my interest is moot at the moment.

Still undecided if i will buy. I have google maps on my phone, but the ability to have it on my laptop with GPS....hmmm.

A guy on the N95 users forums says it works, so thats ok. Just wondering if i really will use it.

As far as I can tell, Google Earth Plus requires a serial connection with NMEA devices or USB-connected Garmin PVT devices. Most GPS units support NMEA output, so you should be OK there. But if your unit uses a Bluetooth connection, you'll need to configure it to look like a serial connection. And even that doesn't guarantee success :)

Hi Bartmanekul, you can cancel at any time and get refunded pro rata per month of use, so it'll only cost you a quid if you get no joy.

I cancelled after a week and they refunded me in full.

The guy is right, this does work fine using the N95, but generally speaking it's a bit tedious to use anything other than google earth pro to view the world in.

The paid for and free kml hacks don't allow you to zoom in or navigate around from within google earth itself while they are running, you have to use their provided control panels. Some of these have logical UI's and do a good job, some require you to restart the whole thing before any view changes take effect, others just aren't customizable enough, and many tend to crash a lot.

Hmmm, I'll try it out then. I suspect it will just end up being another 'wow' factor for people to gawk at, but thats good too.

I fiddled around yesterday and got ExtGPS on N95 working with Google Earth Plus on my laptop via bluetooth.
1.) Initiate the bluetooth device discovery from your laptop/PC. It'll discover your phone, the wizard will ask what connection u want - eg Dial Up Networking etc.... choose ExtGPS serial device.
2.) choose com port manually ( mine works on COM 6 ), I disabled connect automatically
3.) give it a name
4.) finish

In Google Earth Plus, got to Tools, GPS, Realtime tab, check NMEA and click start.
In temporary places, you will see the Network link of Realtime tracking ( or whatever name you gave the connection )

The Realtime KML file was in C/Documents and settings/Joe.Bloggs/Applications/Google/Realtime KML
You may have to add a Network link to this file manually, if the above doesn't work, but it should

I hope I'm doing everything right but still I can't get it to work.
1. Java app in mobile (n82) is working fine and waiting for bluetooth connection.
2. Phone is paired and all; I'm infact running internet through it using bluetooth.
