Nokia seems to have had a spring clean on its Download! catalog for many devices. Comments welcome, but maybe time to hit 'Refresh'? On my N95, I noticed the Foreca Weather utility (think iPhone Weather), Boingo Wi-Fi (a one-hit sub service to most commercial Wi-Fi networks), Easy Wi-Fi (err... ditto), Sonic Jump (a trial version of a Java arcade game, licensed from SEGA) and a Simpsons game, while the Symbian Blog has spotted the new IAC (Independent Artists Club) downloader. What have you spotted on your device?

Read on in the full article (http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/news/item/6139_Download_update-hit_Refresh.php).

I had a green folder called ECO.

Now its gone.

That's the only change I've noticed.

It downloaded and installed a new version of itself, but still :

No catalogs. Select 'Refresh list' in Options menu to retrieve.

I've never seen anything in that application. Pointless. Biggest market in the world, and one that I actually develop s/w for, and it's empty.

Disappointing.

Operator: CMCC
Phone: 3250

EDIT:If I switch the phone into Chinese, and make sure I connect using one particular network (monternet), then it will download some things; but if the phone is in English, it won't download anything and it remains empty.

I found a huge difference in what was available in Download! when I switched from Vodafone to generic Nokia firmware. The WinLive! stuff for a start.

Easy Wifi has been on for a few weeks now and I think is quite good.

I've never found anything of any use in the downloads section. As commented above, massive missed opportunity.

Easy Wifi is actually Devicescape, it is NOT a subscription service it is FREE.
It allows you to connect to hotspots both commercial and at home simply.

Basically you enter your login details for example BT Openzone and it remembers them and automatically logs you in, avoiding the login screen.

It also works for home networks etc

Full details can be found here http://www.devicescape.com/pub/

Works really well

There is clearly a need for a fan-maintained wiki site for "Download!-spotting" keeping up-to-date on the available software in different regions/devices/languages. Who's going to set it up?

Shame us 3 UK folk don't have the Download folder, can't even download it from Nokia as it's kinda installed already but er, hidden and not available for use!
