Hello All,
I just updated the software on my N70 to 5.0705.3.01. But, really didn't find any or major changes. If anyone of you can obtain the changes list for the current, i will be more happy to learn about them. I will also keep searching for it. Well, the first thing, that i did was to search about the current update in this forum and didn't find any :frown: . So, i decided to start a thread about this. Please feel free to share your thoughts on this.

Old software update version : 5.0638.3.01
Current/New update version : 5.0705.3.01

I will go ahead and play around with my N70 and see if i can list out any changes that i notice.

Thank you,
Harish

Hello, Thank you so much for the reply. Do you mean to say about the Media player that came along with the mobile? I mean, the Play, Stop, Pause, Prev, Next buttons were working fine earlier as well. Not sure, which one you meant. Please let me know.

Thank you,
Harish

It looks that there are some minor changes, but the phone memory is lower than before. I'll stick with 5.0638 for the moment. See the changes here:

Any idea what the generic codes are for the N70? I am particularly interested in Euro1 and Balkans (languages I need: English, German, Greek).

Thanks!

Is your phone a branded one?

Is your phone a branded one?

It was banded Orange UK but I had it debranded with generic firmware at NSC, could it be the branding is still hidden and causing the problem?

You have to debrand it again before checking for updates. Anyway, reading the issues with this new firmware makes me not jump for it.

Debranding the phone means changing the product code with NSS. After upgrading the firmware with a newer version the original product code is set back, so the phone has the latest generic firmware, but the branding is still present. You understand now? Product code can be changed with Nemesis Service Suite (NSS). If you want more details for firmware upgrades, look on the N70 forum for the dedicated thread.

I have a N70-5, with the firmware 5.0634.2.6.1
When I check if there are updates with Nokia Software Updater, it tell me that there are not updates.
Why? My version is not the latest, is it?

Debranded my phone with NSS from T-Mobile several months ago and updated to 5.0634.2.6.1. Then a couple of weeks back I updated to 5.0705.3.0.1 without having to change code again. Why would the code reset after updating?

The code does not change by itself, it must be switched back by you. How's the new firmware? I haven't heard good things about it - backup cannot be restored, phone memory dropped to 18 MB...

Never had cause to use the backup but will try it later.
Phone seems more stable, ie no crashes and bluetooth performance is improved. I use TomTom 5 and I was having troubles with BT dropping out but since the update its been stable.
I didn't change the code back after the debranding/update.

I mean that you can't recover the backup made before changing the firmware. Mine is pretty stable so I guess I won't rush for 5.705
