I need to start collecting tips for the Digest (issue coming very soon). So what is your most commonly used best tip or combination.

In Calendar, pressing <B>Escape</B> toggles you between the current view and your last view while pressing <B>Space</B> toggles you between the current date and the last date you visited.

When you set up a task to syncronise, check to see whether you really want it to sync both ways.

I have a number of contact databases on my communicated which I synced with Lotus Notes. As it synced, it took data from Database A and Database B and put it into Lotus Notes.

It then noticed that there was data in Lotus Notes which wasn't in Database A and proceeded to fill it up. Only this data that was missing from Database A was actually the data from Database B. Also, it took the data it had synced from Database A and put it into Database B.

Does this make sense? I don't know if there is a solution but I now say that the data can only go from the Communicator to the Pc and not the other way around.

That one sounds more like a bug than a tip.

Here's a tip. Never store your 9210 in a shirt pocket, because most likely, if you bend over to pick something up it'll fall out and smash on concrete, or fall into a open tin of Emulsion, or into tha bath, or something.

Tip for Orange Everyday50 (and maybe other tarif) users in the UK;

During peak rate, it's actually <I>cheaper</I> to use HSCSD than normal Data (though stick to normal data off-peak);

Orange to Orange & Data
* Peak 35ppm
* Off Peak 5ppm

Orange HSCSD
* Peak 25ppm
* Off Peak 20ppm

It's cheaper again if you pay for the High Speed Data Plan, shame they can't include HSCSD in the free mintutes (even if one HSCSD minute = 2 normal minutes).

Just found this one on my-communicator.com - quite good...

To make ROM (Z) drive visible in File Manager, open file manager, type ++sp, (this will display ++sp in top right corner. Press MENU, select TOOLS -> Settings, change View ROM Drive setting to yes, close File Mangler and re-open it and Z drive will be visible (read only).

Ah! You see... I'm still a relative newcomer here.... but if ever there was incentive to look through past posts.....

Here's another that's probably been mentioned but I haven't seen it anywhere - and it just in case no-one knows about it.

If your 9210 is connected to your PC, you can cut/copy something in windows, open your 9210 and paste it directly into the 9210.

You can arrange your entire folder tree and do the above. Then it's simple to put in place. I was quite pleased when that one occurred to me.

here are a few, soz if u know them already

- use the rocker button in File manager (left side screen) to expand and contract folder view
- in Calender use the repeat menu tab to set an entry to reappear on same day (like a monthly direct debit or something) you can even set the duration for repeated entries! pretty kewl, or what huh?
- press Esc to fast exit pop up menus
- use Tab to switch between window panes in programs like Messaging
- double press Desk to open up new desk Note
- use Epocware's amazing PowerData as a Diary or notepad (can even set password on files too!) I love this program so much
- MobiPocket can read HTML files (basic HTML not HTML linked to folders) you can save from MS internet explorer - use the 'HTML only' option copy to mem card and thats it) and text files created on the 9210 in Word can be printed out using extended printers from PsiNT; set the page dimensions to fit the Mobipocket screen...about 14 cm page width if i remember using custom page.
- MobiPocket works well as a news reader too! but cant get epochelp tho /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_frown.gif
- use Log on a saturday morning to find out what u got up 2 last night and appologise to girlfriend for calling her five times at 3.30am >
- Log is also good if you get a call from a person, but didnt take down their number
- to get confirmation of SMS delivery type in *0# at start of text message (works on BTCellnet UK network) u get a receipt SMS back to confirm message has been received

I'm not sure to be honest. The Nokia 7110e had this feature built-in, and it was free (that was on Orange). It's great because you know the exact date and time of day a particular message is delivered to the actual phone.

In the SMS settings the 9210 does have the option to set Delivery reports 'on' or 'off'...but as far as I can see this has absolutely *NO* effect whatsoever (please post a reply if anyone does know what this does! Thanks.) Maybe it varies from network to network? I'll check tomorrow to find out if there is a cost. I can't see them on my itemised bill - but then i send and receive so many.

I used a Dymo Letra Tag printing device and placed a strip with short names for the applications I have put under the speedlaunch keys in Active desk.
A small strip just fits/sticks under the screen.
Exactly above the numbers under which I put the programs.

I found it impossible to remind me all the apps that I stored under the number keys.

P.s. My English let me down. A Dymo device is a thing that prints self sticking tapes with text.

Its a pain, but I check for my delivery reports in the log.

Also, I found that I do have delivery reports to the 'phone side', but they take the same form as the 'Message Sent' report. If I don't see it when it arrives, too bad, I've missed it (which is a good thing - in a way - because I remember my other phones getting clogged up with delivery report messages and the log prevents this).
