SpeTz 05-04-2007, 02:17 PM Damn computer is so slow. My bad for the double post ajp558 05-04-2007, 02:46 PM Isnt nokia offering free IE firmware without the product code changing now? They are, but only if your phone is not a branded one, eg "3" or "Orange". That's why many are using NSS to change the product code from a branded N80 to an unbranded N80 which can then get the latest firmware. Branded phones are stuck with the firmware that Nokia have agreed with the network operators until such time as the operator approves an upgrade. Which may be a long time or may be never seeing as how most if not all (at least in the UK) have stopped selling the N80. kontraband 05-04-2007, 06:47 PM yeah, its these damn UK Sp's//// better of with generic s/w anyway.... less branding etc.. :) pvalmeida 09-04-2007, 09:35 PM Can anyone help me unlocking my N80? I have the operator code to unlock it, but I tried more than allowed times with wrong codes. :con? Will flashing the device help me with this? I tried flashing with nokia official software but didn't work. Should I try anything with Diego or Phoenix? Does anyone know how to get this programs? The links in the begining of this thread didn't work for me: files corrupted. If anyone can help, post here or MSN me at pvalmeida@pop.com.br Thanks in advance! bbracer16valver 10-04-2007, 03:48 AM did you get the code fro the orignal provider of that phone? or off internet? what do you mean you cant update via NSU? what happends? pvalmeida 10-04-2007, 04:00 AM I got the code from the provider, and I updated ok with NSU, but before I get the code I has already tried too many wrong codes, and my phone is locked even to the right code. Is there a cable solution? Can I change NSS number and update to a firmware that is not sim locked? planetf1 10-04-2007, 12:10 PM Question - if NSU fails part way through, and phoenix doesn't seem to work, am I bricked? All the PC sees now when the phone is plugged in is an "unknown device" (it is a functional unknown device) with a report from windows that the device is malfunctioning, tezza 10-04-2007, 12:12 PM Can anyone help me out with updating my N80 to IE. I've tried a range of different product codes, and when I go to update the firmware, NSU locates a different firmware (Internet Edition) and proceeds to download it. Once it finishes downloading, it attempts to install it onto the phone, although it always comes up with a recovery error in NSU, something along the lines of remove the battery and charger and then put the battery and charger back in and press the on key for a few seconds. When this happens, it just keeps telling me to do that and does not update the firmware. Any ideas on what could be causing this as I want the IE for VOIP calls :) Piroman 14-04-2007, 01:29 PM HELP, please!!! :) Story goes like this... I hava a N80 and I have upgraded it to the last update of the FW, that is 4.0707.0.7, then I wanted to start using Truphone, which is a stil NO CAN DO even on newest firmware... So... I red the posts above and downloaded NSS to change the product code and I did... From: 0527480 BALKANS Pearl Black To: 0543252 BALKANS Pearl Black Internet Edition And then all full of hope, I run the NSU but gues what it recognized my phone as Nokia N80 (RM-92) FW: 4.0707.0.7 WHY, WHY, WHY? :) Does this mean I can not update to N80 IE ? Or will it update during the process but the screen is there just to make fun of me? Oh, yes if this helps to help me... :) When I type *#0000# I get: V 4.0707.0.7 28-03-2007 RM-92 Nokia N80(07) Any help will be much apreciated! Currently i am unable to power it on or even tried using the phoenix to reflash it does not work. Anyone can provide some advise? Thanks steffi 17-04-2007, 01:46 AM Sounds like your phone can only be recovered by FBUS dead flashing. I've done this with my own phone and I chose at the time to invest in a JAF box instead of sending my phone to various websites to get it done for me. johnnytanki 17-04-2007, 05:12 AM can i have more details? thanks Cateye 17-04-2007, 02:11 PM HI Can some 1 give me the link in which all the details have been given which firmware of N80 fixes which bug …. Im in Canada, and I bought the phone from someone on the "orange" network. The phone is obviously not locked since I am able to use it here with Rogers, but I want to know if I am able to update the phone to N80i. I went on the Nokia site and put my product code in and it said there is an update for me, but I dont want to be screwed by downloading it and then not having it work..... Any suggestions? I went on the Nokia site and put my product code in and it said there is an update for me, but I dont want to be screwed by downloading it and then not having it work..... I know Rogers is a roaming partner of Orange (I've often had 'Rogers' when I've visited Canada with my Orange sim in my phone). Whether that means you can use a sim from Rogers in an Orange branded phone I don't know. When you say you went to Nokia's site, did you download Nokia Software Updater and run that? If so and it's offering an update then that's the first step. Question is, which update. If the phone is Orange branded then I believe it will still offer an update to a newer N80 one if it hasn't already been updated. It won't be the N80i update though. If the phone is unbranded then it will ultimately offer the N80i update. You should be able to tell if it's added an Internet folder and some extra apps like the VoIP app. In theory you should be fine using the NSU app to update the phone. My advice is to install the latest PC Suite from Nokia's site and use Content Copier to backup everything on the phone first. Only then use NSU, and use the USB cable. Make sure you leave the phone, cable and computer untouched whilst it's updating in case the connection is lost by moving a cable. Then when it's updating DO NOT assume it's gone wrong or finished if the phone turns off or reboots. Leave it alone until NSU says it's done. It will take a long time and the phone will shut down and reboot several times. If anything does go wrong you should be able to drop the phone into a Nokia service centre for recovery or post it to them to fix. There should be no problem (and possibly no charge, though I can't say about Nokia Canada). Of course if you've been using illegal software to mess about with product codes then that's another matter, but I'd steer clear of changing the code if NSU is offering you updates. P.S. Talking of the N80i update on Orange. If/when they do get around to it they are likely to disable the built-in VoIP support that N80i provides. That's what they've done on the Orange branded N95. This is why I've decided to buy unbranded these days. chermo 22-04-2007, 02:09 AM What kind of code for the Norway i should use for N80 Pearl Black Norway. Want to update it to N80ie so can use Truphone etc. Nokia Software Updater won't let me have N80ie firmware. I have seen this and other threads and understand roughly the steps involved. However am really nervous about doing this and feel I need more help than looking at notes on a bulletin board. Is there anyone out there who would be prepared to run through this with me step by step as I do it either on the phone or via MSN/Yahoo messenger? Regards Computechnopro 03-09-2007, 06:37 PM Plz, anyone post me phoenix(software) and reaper, diego, cracks to my email address(except NSS and EMEA or APAC firmware files) at mnh.jannat_at_gmail_dot_com , or reply me with working links of those files to my email address or here.-thanks to all craig9100 27-10-2007, 11:26 PM I've upgrade for my N80 (Telstra) to N80i (Aussie generic), all went well ...except.. but I seem to have lost the Bookmarks from Nokia .. download sounds, backgrounds ... and .. also lost "Visual radio" auto setup info as well...? Ryans 01-02-2008, 04:44 AM Hi, I can't get phoenix to run. As soon as i run the app, i get a splash screen flash then disappear. Followed by the standard windows error dialog asking if i want to send the results to Microsoft. The previos installs steps completed as describe in the guide. Any help would be much appriciated. Thanks. YiorgoS2k 03-02-2008, 08:22 PM Sorry if this has been answered before but why are phoenix and diego needed? Can't the product code be changed from N80 to N80i and use Nokia Software Updater for the upgrade? I have upgraded a 6630 and a N70 to the music editions that way. Can't see why this wouldn't work with the N80. Unless there are hardware differences, in which case it wouldn't be upgradable either way? |
