Emmm no no the pot noodle one....
Maybe I'll have to do some less serious polls soon though. I do like th 'who would you most like to talk to' I'll do that next maybe. Meanwhile the other two have been used, one on front page, and one the communicator section page.

I'd be interested in knowing how many people find HSCSD to be beneficial, despite the cost.

I have no doubt that my epxerience on Orange, although it only runs at 28.8, is that it makes a massive differene, but the cost is prohibitive.

I'm on orange so the option is there, but as I'm a lowly student I haven't called to have it enabled yet. Perhaps when I get a job I'll play with it.

Who is on what network here in the UK? Just wondering as I used to be an orange customer until the 9110 and then I had to move over to Cellnet, but now I have a 920 I'm contemplating a move to Orange (although everyone in work has smellnet so calls to their phones will be more expensive). Are 0800 numbers still free from orange phones?

I'm on orange value promise, but my tarriff has recently changed to 0800 being 10p a minute, cos One2One wanted to change it. But if you choose the right tariff you'll have free 0800.

I'm on Orange but, during Peak Time, I call using a service provided by Telco (www.telco-gc.com) which mean sthat my peak time calls to regular landline numbers is approx 5ppm (though I haven't checked for a while - but I know it's dead cheap) and cross-network calls are cheaper than Orange.

I tried configuring my internet to go via Telco but it crashed my 9210 (!?) - maybe because I don't know how to put a paused in a telephone number on my comm - but I think Orange spot Data calls and charge for them anyway /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_frown.gif

PS. Has the colour scheme for AllAbotER6 changed recently?

20 - 15
26 - 29
30 - 35
36 - 45
46 - 920,100,221.5

Tankerx,

I use HSCSD for all my WAP connections here in finland and I really like the speed advantage over 9.6 or 12k connection. But I agree with you that it's little use if you travel abroad. Lately I have been surfing WAP using a new phone with GPRS 3+1 and I find it easier against HSCSD since time to set-up data transfer is almos Zero and you can even receive phonecalls and continue browsing as soon as you hang the voice call. But HSCSD speed is still better in my opinion.

Question for the Poll

What has you counting the hours as you wait for new mobile phone technology;

1. Nokia 7650
2. Nokia 9210i
3. Another Nokia
4. Sony-Ericsson P800
5. Palm Treo
6. Micro$oft's Smartphone (yeah, right!)

28,8 rulez /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif Instead of 9,6 that is. Since I can't mange to get isdn working, I use hscsd.
Orange charges me the same if i use the normal or the fast way, so why not the fast way /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_wink.gif

I didn't have to call to have it activate it. All the services are "free" and already activated, I just have to pay for the call to the internet provider.

Im on orange everytime 400.. gives me 400 mins to be used any time of day for any network iclusive..46 quid. As for the hscd option yeah its very very speedy but i only use very rarely.. the cost is just too much. Ive found orange to be very relialble .. never had a problem connecting to orange.net and email works a treat..
