I am concerning updating my N80 with the new firmware. I just have these questions... If i update, will i lose all my text msgs? What other than the contacts goes lost? I have no apps on the phone itself, only on the memory card.
Any opinions.
Also, will i get the adobe reader by using BB5 Reaper?

move all ur messages to ur memory card, sync ur contacts with ur pc or copy them to your sim card, you can also do a complete backup of your phone before u flash with the nokia pc suite and restore after you flash.
How do i tell what files to use and download?
I have a N80 on Vodafone UK.
Bricked my n80. It didnt repond at 20% ...
shoulda waited for the offical nokia software updater.

i flashed mine twice, no problems, make sure ur battery is fully charged before you start, and follow instructions EXACTLY.
i heard theres a way to flash bricked phones with the phoeinix 2006, but im not sure, search around fdxd u might be able to bring it back to life.
i followed instructions but i think my firmware was corrupted? or something odd happened? It seemed fine at first then it stopped responding(restart i think). I'll have a look around.

How big is the risk of bricking the phone?

How big is the risk of bricking the phone?
As with flashing any hardware there is a reasonable risk of bricking, however if you PREPARE, which means read about the process first, get all the necessary software and understand what you have to do if the worst happens.
I flashed my N80 first time after a lot of reading about the phone and the process.
Phones I have flashed successfully
Nokia N80
Motorola V3
SE 750i
Unsuccessful flash
SE 750i (my fault as battery level was too low)
