Actually, I think that warez IS a good thing. It makes developers keep their applications fairly priced. I know it sounds dubious, but if an app is $10-20, I don't mind paying for it. It is only when they start charging crazy prices that I consider looking "elsewhere"
Have already bought a few progs that I am using because they were reasonably priced. No warez = higher prices in my opinion. You have to remember that not everyone earns $'s or £'s etc.
If you consider that $20 can be a huge amount in other place.
I agree that this forum must stay away from warez, that's what makes it so open to input from the developers themselves.
Yes, there is quite a bit of cracked software already out there. Remember, if you like it..and are gonna use it, then buy it.

It doesnt always! Many software companys invest thousands of £ or $ to improve security of their software thus increasing the price of an application! Security needs research and research leads to costs, that someone has to pay for! This warez=low prices is a myth! Its just an excuse for crackers to play Marx, or Comandante Che Quevara :)

Anyways, I still consider it stealing!

As regards the warez, its pure ethics, its purely and purely a matter or our conscience, and our perception of right and wrong. We may find a hundred excuses for our wrong doing, Price control, Affordability etc... But the fact remains, in whatever form, cracks IS STEALING.
( if 20$ is huge in some currencies, 500$ for the phone must have been astronomical..but that didnt stop you from buying the phone?) ...

Let's not be Hypocritical. We had all used or tempted to use Cracks at some point of time. But we are in a different context here, since most of the applications here are being developed by small and upcoming businesses, we should spare them a thought, who, as it is have a not so big market.
If ppl are so worried about the prices, why dont they be generous enough to spend their time and skill to make applications and distribute it free(like some good souls here have already done, but even they, i'm sure won't support warez, as they know what it takes to make a good application)
If u are able to make a crack, atleast dont distribute it in public, and draw away potential customes who'd otherwise have bought it!

I know that many of these software developers are small businesses, but still, warez/sharing will always exist which I really think is a good thing!

Yes I am a mod and maybe that was a big mistake! I am just doing what I am told, and because of mods this site still exists and is one of the best symbian communities. However it seems like you dont appreciate that everytime you and others had a problem we were here together will all the members to solve your problems!

If you believe that I have a stick or whatever thats your problem! I on the other hand will continue to do what I like, being part of this community!

This isn't directed at any one person, and also acts as a general point.

Please be nice to each other. I know people wont agree, but there's no need to be personally offensive, or use an insult to get an argument or poitn across. It should stand on its own merits.

The moderators do have a certain amount of power because I've given it to them. They are following my instructions and the rule I decided to implement as the 'owner' of this site. If you have a problem with them please e-mail me personally rather than lambast the mods, they are only trying to keep the community a friendly one, and enforce the rules. I dont expect everyone to agree, but I do expect them to respect each other and the forum rules. If you dont feel you can do this please don't use the forum. I don't feel thats too much to ask is it?

Look Mr. MaleBuffy, this is hardly the issue here. There is a reason why I joined this forum. I've found loads of usefull information and help here, and I've also tried my best to help others whenever I could. And as a member of this forum I would like think that I can speak up when there's something I don't agree with, without being called a "stupid kid" by one of the moderators. I realize that my views doesn't count for much in here, but as a member I would at least appreciate some respect.
After all, Mr. MaleBuffy, this forum wouldn't be nothing without its members!

Lets get a few things straight. I do not mind at all that you have this rule about warez. What I do react to is the way you enforce this rule, by editing links to other forums that might contain warez. (I thought it was just about not posting warez attachments and direct links). By editing peoples e- mail addresses and links to things like; www.ihavenobrain.com .
By a slapp on wrist every time someone do the fatale mistake of mentioning the words; "WAREZ/FILESHARING".
Even though we might be discusted by other ppls opinions, I'm sure I'm not the only one that finds this just a LITTLE bit extreme.

I hope my point gets through, for what it's worth($0.02).

After some days, once this topic gets old and relegated to the backpages, this issue might resurface all over again with similar debates. Instead, why not delete any postings about warez or other contentious issues at the first instance, as a matter of policy? I suppose that would clean up a lot of space, and also help our tempers a bit?

PS: *Sigh*Yeah..it will be tough living with lowered post counts if those topics are deleted.. :D

All of the Admin team have access to everyones PM's, so if anyone does decide to use it for Warez/Trading etc, you will be banned.

I hate being the bad guy in all of this threatening to ban you, but you do get one warning, and the way I see it personal attacks are WORSE than warez, and this is certainly no place for it.

I suggest the people involved read the forum rules carefully, and if there is anything you are unsure of ask me and I will try my best to explain anything you don't understand.

This site's main purpose is to help people in there problems using their phone. Sharing knowledge. I don't think you are helping anyone with the posts I have seen.
We don't care if you have problems with some-one, the forum is big enough, just ignore the person.
Personaly I can see how it's irritating when some-one spoiles your fun and complains to the mods. But hey, the time has come that we need these persons just to keep up with all those people who are trying to ignore the rules.

Warez is fun, everyone wants things for free, why else do we have christmass or birthday party's :p
Just learn to respect the rules. We don't ask anything more. If the rules say no warez, than no warez it is.
This has been a big discussion between the admins. We agreed this is the best to help out everyone.

If you think you are better, smarter, (probably just high-er) than all those persons who are actualt trying to help this site become better than I would say you're arrogant or just childish ;p

We're all getting tired of a discussing a topic that just isn't anything to be discussed.

Sean,i dont want to offend you with this replay,i just want to clear out why we should not discuss warez in this forum.
First of all,like i said before,this forum is dedicated to a phone,the nokia 7650,not a microwave not a tv,a phone and we should discuss here issues realted to the device,the posibilities of the device,the ocasional problems etc etc.What we should not discuss is,relegion,politics,rasism.Did i forgot to mention,WAREZ?If you try,i'll bet that you will find a forum that will suite your needs.

none taken GhostDog. and i never meant discussing WAREZ per se. it was simply a discussion we need to give an answer to and so we did. i think it would have done more harm than good if the mods locked it before the actual ceasefire. and now since all the dark clouds have cleared up, aren't we all thankful and happy that we had the chance to let loose all the angst that some of the members have.
