Anyone know if Nokia have released any software for push email on N80?

I've been using it on my N80 for the past month with the mail2web free basic exchange server.

Note that the N80 is not listed for downloads, just use one of the E series downloads. Don't forget that this will bump your data costs unless you're on an inclusive plan (or you don't get any email lol)

The free Mail for Exchange does not support PUSH.

The new RoadSync for S60 3'rd edition supports PUSH, as far as I know..

BTW! don't try the old trick with adjusting the date into the future ahead of installing the demo to extend the trial time, it wont work with this edition!
When you set the correct date again it will claim that the trial period is
due, and it won't help uninstalling and reinstalling, you will have to reformat
the phone..

So when you install the demo, you have 30 days...

The cost of the software is approx $100..

All said and done, I have never seen the point with PUSH, really...

Quite right messus - my bad. My understanding of PUSH mail is fairly limited, but much of the Windows Mobile / Symbian software I've come across to date seems to stimulate a PULL from the mobile device using a specially formatted SMS. Is this what RoadSync does?

They should have emailed / pointed you to a web page with setting info, but here's the basics:

Exchange Server: mobile.exchange.mail2web.com
Secure Connection: Yes
Access Point: your mobile data connection
Sync while roaming: Yes / No according to preference
Use default port: Yes
UserName: your mail2web email address
Password: your mail2web passwword
Domain: ad2

or if you have a Yahoo account, you can use Yahoo Go, which very nicely sends my email to my phone :)

Well, I've just setup a mail2web account with mail for exchange on my E61, and it's "PUSHING" mail to me very well. All of my contacts and calendar are synced up both ways too :)

After a bit of googling, it seems that it's not classed as push, but as synchronisation. As the mail arrives immediately though, the end result is the same :)

I am using 'mobile mail' on the '3' network for 2.50 per month, its very reliable and worth every penny.

This is a bit annoying because I like to have it "Always on". If I don't check it regularly, I end up with no battery in no time! :mad:

I know that I could set it to sync every 15 mins, but what's the point having the "Always on" feature and then not being able to use it?

Any suggestions?

I think that not all versions work with nseries, since they are intended for eseries.

I've installed the Nokia MailForExchange on my N80 and it's installed fine.

However, when I run the software I get the following error message:
'Unsupported device. This device is not supported by this version of Mail for Exchange client!'

I can only click OK which exits the app and just won't run.

Any ideas? Did you install a previous version of MailForExchange?

I've installed 'MailForExchange(1.5.0).SISX' downloaded an hour ago from the Nokia website using the link above.

Found this link on another website, removed 1.5.0, rebooted phone and then installed 1.3.0.

Now the software loads fine and I can connect to my office Exchange Server. Works a treat! :cool:

Ridiculous that Nokia have now disabled any future updates to install on any other Nokia Symbian models. This software clearly works so why not release it for all models? :mad:

Anyway, it's working now so I'll live with this slightly older version.

We all know that nseries are as capable as eseries, then why force us to buy third party software to be able to read our email on the go? Or is Nokia planning to buy Roadsync???

Please Nokia let us use these fine apps with nseries!!! I hope that the next fw update will still let use use Nokia mail for exchange…

There is also something called Seven Always On Internet Edition which you can configure to use push from any POP3 (and I think IMAP?) mailbox. It's on a 30-day trial then it's a pay to use the service, something like 40GBP for a year or two.
I trialled it for the 30 days but it was really for me, as I wanted to really sync my work email. I wasn't always convinced changes on my phone were making it back up to the gmail server.
RoadSync v2 would never connect successfully to my work exchange, but since v3, I've been using it OK. I wouldn't say it's not without some glitches, but the price has come down and it cost me about 30GBP (first s/w I've ever bought for my phone lol). Despite Microsoft apparently not supporting push over Wifi, it works fine for me and is excellent for working at home days (far better than OWA), plus all the crud emails I end up having to send I can do at home at night (bought the iGo BT keyboard at the same time, very pleased).
I would say the data overhead is quite large though, DataViz estimate it's about 10-15mb per month excluding any emails, although it's not been that much yet for me. I am however upping my tarriff to 20mb from 5mb though (I'm on O2).
Seven is a lot less.
