I use my N80 to try to learn Mandarin and are listening to 30 minutes long mp3 files. This works good when listening but if I have to stop somewhere in the middle and wants to start from the same spot some time later, the following problems occur:

- When you stop the music player it's not possible to start from the same spot and you have to start from the beginning of the mp3 file.

- The above could be ok since the FFWD function is quite fast. But when I operate FFWD up to e g 20 minutes it looks like the phone looses track of where it is in the mp3 file. So when I start listening between 20-30 minutes it is actually something like 15 minutes left of the mp3 and when 30 minutes are reached and I keeps listening to the mp3 the phone starts to get unstabile and can just jump to the next mp3.

Is this something that could be corrected with new firmware or should I try to find another S60:3 mp3 player?

I understamd the problem, I have had it also, I think this is best described as a bug, so as long as Nokia know about it then there is a slim chance that they may correct it in a future firmware release, but dont hold your breath.

For now if you can find a third party MP3 player then that would be your only option, please let us know if you find a good one.

Until the new firmware arrives, you can split the 30 minutes mp3 into 3 pieces let say 10 minutes each. in that way you can find your check mark better

It is quite a common problem with older MP3 players to not keep track successfully of where it is with particularly long MP3 files.

After a while they started to develop 'bookmarks' in MP3 files that allowed you to find a particular point in a track. I guess if Nokia thought this was a big enough problem they would create a firmware patch.

Another MP3 playing software is Helix player, but I dont think it works for the N80.
