second of my problems on my new N-6680:

the music player what now seems to be a real player with a different skin (not a standalone player as in the N-Gage)

it always gives me the feeling that the phone is not meant to be a music player because it starts running slow when I'm listening music.

the sound volume is really low and there's no more sound enhancements (classic, latin, rock, pop...) upgrading from N-Gage I think I over-rated the 6680 because it's 3G and has two cameras.

I have installed WMA-OGG codec and everytime I'm listening to wma songs I can push any button otherwise it makes gaps in the audio.

it came with the 3 UK network software which I think is the main causer of the problems. unfortunately this network is famous for their phones with softwares changed for dummies.

wish I could update the software to the newest version, one completely off of any network and with americas language pack (english-us/portuguese-br/spanish-la).


any help in this matter mates?

The only way to update the software is to get the firmware flashed (updated).

The gap with buttons press is a limitation of the wma / ogg codecs I believe.

I think there are some presets in the music player (sorry not using a 6680). Its not a skinned version of real player BTW.

The WMA-Ogg codec pack isn't legal and isn't supported. Which is part of your problem. WMA files also take more decoding than Ogg or MP3, which is another part. Finally, RealPlayer is inefficient. All of which means that the processor is heavily loaded.

Install OggPlay and use Ogg files and tell us whether the gaps in playback have gone away - I suspect they'll be a thing of the past 8-)

well, I know it all about wma being illegal and taking too much from the processor... I dont care about that, actually. but I do think it wouldn't cause gaps if the processor wasn't so overloaded with other unnecessary stuff running all the time on the background, ok nevermind...

I think the sound quality is okay but poor compared to n-gage's.
and it's also very low.

no it does not have any presets and the navigation is really bad. I'm able to add only up to 99 tracks to a playlist - I have always to create more than one.

another interesting feature from N-Gage (sorry mentioning it all the time) it's possible to skip tracks pressing the answer button on the headset - not available on 6680. such simple thing, so helpful...

I wonder if other people who own 6680 had these problems and what they did, really like this phone.
