Hi all!

How to optimize the memory and CPU usage of the 6630? For example, i have to shut down the phone and restart to be able to use TomTom because of lack of memory. I shoudl be able to do this as well by shutting down apps using FExplorer. But i don't know which apps.

So my questions:
- What apps are not needed for the phone to run normally?
- How to prevent apps (Tasks in FE) from launching on startup? (SysAp, ScreenSaver, Autolock, etc)
- What processes are not needed? Is there an overview of processes and what they are for? How to stop them from being launched at startup?
- How to minimize memory usage? How to minimize CPU usage (although i haven't noticed that as a problem so far).

Lots of questions and i guess there are already documents out there that contain this info. I just haven't found them yet.

Ton.

My question was more in general a) to free up memory and b) to get to know Symbian better.

I will check out your link.

Thanks,

Ton.

I use AppMan (default settings). Tab to Process. In that tab, u'll see what progress that's necessary or not. Click Info to see from with directory the process come.
I sometimes do backup several process to another directory on MMC to have my 6630 run fastly ;) If I want it back, I just restore the process files back...

How do i know what program is necessary for the correct funtioning of the phone and what not? That was basically the essence of my initial question.

When You close a need process, something wrong can happens in that moment. But no problem, because a reboot of phone can solve the things. The others... are the not needed processes.

U'll have to use UnMakeSIS (PC software) to get to know where an app (.SIS) goes with ur phone. Open an app (.SIS) with UnMakeSIS on ur windows. U'll see the directory (path) of files which is correspondenced with the app that will goes into ur phone.

Otherwise, do what nj7 told u.
