Steve Litchfield takes a detailed look at Onskreen's Fusion system for integrating latest news and information into your Series 60 idle/standby screen. Summary? It's cleverly done, but linked to inappropriate story URLs and could be very expensive in terms of GPRS.

Fortunately operators are starting to understand consumers' needs in pricing too. I'm pretty sure most consumers don't want to try to estimate how much data they've received and sent, but instead they want totally or to some extend flat fee pricing.

I have a 100 MB montly data plan in my employer's mobile subscriptions. That has been enough until now, but if I need more, there are also 200 MB and 500 MB montly data plans. When my current 100 MB data plan is exceeded, I'm supposed to get a text message from my operator.

As I see it, locally there are fair enough data plans in most EU countries, at least based on what I've heard from my colleagues in different countries, but roaming abroad the costs are getting way too high and unpredictable. I've paid up to 12 euros per megabyte for GPRS roaming abroad.

It seems that even the EU comission has some hopes to limit roaming fees: http://europa.eu.int/information_society/activities/roaming/policies/index_en.htm .
