I'm trying to connect my Bluetooth GPS receiver to the N70. The passkey is fixed to "NAVMAN", the problem is that the N70 only enters digits when pressing the numeric buttons.
Any ideas on how to get round this?

As far as I'm aware, Bluetooth passkeys are numeric only. Perhaps they mean you to type NAVMAN in text message entry style, so 628626.

Passkeys can be alpha numeric. On my p910i I could enter it because I used the stylus to type in.

The N70 isn't touch screen unfortunately.

In that case, try holding down # when entering the passkey, should switch it to Alpha mode.

Tried that. Pressing # aborts the input

I've run out of ideas :(
I know a keyboard would be a solution but I don't want to waste £70 just to be able to enter a passkey

Unfortunately, the Bluetooth passkey entry field on the N70 (and probably all other S60 based phones) assumes only numeric Bluetooth passkeys. I don't believe there's anything you can do about it (with a keyboard or otherwise).

So, the only options are:
- get a different GPS module that doesn't need you to pair it, or one that accepts a numeric passkey, or one that allows you to change it to be numeric
- get a different phone that allows entering non-numeric Bluetooth passkeys

According to Nokia support no one of there phones supports alphanumerics as pin code wich should be supported according to the specs at bluetooth.com.
