I tried to "HARD FoRMAT" my N70 with holding 3 keys; Green dial key, * Star key, no. 3 key on keypad bUt is not FoRmAtTiNg N70....

Any ideas ???

No other way. Try again (it can be a bit tricky to get going). When it is done, you will recognize it by the phone asking for the home country/city again at startup.

Try this easy way dial *#7370# after that it will ask for security code dial 12345 it's by default!

*#7370# will not reformat a N70, but just reset settings.

- Turn off PIN code requests.
- Charge the phone fully.
- Turn off the phone.
- Remove the memory card (not really needed, but I usually do it to be on the safe side).
- Put the phone on a table (easier to press the keys then, in my opinion).
- Press the three keys and keep them securely down and do not release.
- While the keys are still down, turn the power on.
- Do not release the three keys until you see the prompt for the home city.

If it doesn't work, retry until you get it right. It is easier if you have three hands. ;)

*#7370# will not reformat a N70, but just reset settings.I thought that *#7780# just reset settings and that *#7370# did a soft format whereas [Green] + [3, def]+[*, +] does a hard format.

If you perss those 3 keys or dail that number will it format everything so everything is gone or wil it be exaclty like it was when you bought it including all preinstlald progrs and videos? or what does it really do?

but that bar as come back on the home screen i did remove it once b4 but i just cannot find the right place to remove! im on orange and on home screen it has that stupid bar on side thats like a menu!! could some one please tell me how to remove it? thanks

It won't show at all. Keep the keys pressed until the menu for selecting the city pops up.

just go to nokia website download the updated software for ur n70 use data cable and update ur phone and the phone is much better without the stupid homescreen and best of all phone loads quicker

just formatting my 6600 with the 3key press.

it started by showing FORMATING in center of scr. then black line moved across screen to show how far it had done. It now loads up ok
