Ljudproblem med Sony Ericsson P800?
2003-01-03 15:53

They say someone has problems with the sound, that it dissapperas sometimes, especially when you are in an loud enviroment, such as an Subway or bus. It seems as it can come and go, Sony Ericsson denies any problems with the phone.

I have not had any problems like this with my phone though.

ill continue to play pacman JR on mine :P

Sound-problem with the SonyEricsson P800?
2003-01-03 15:53

We've been contacted by several owners of the new camera-phne from SonyEricsson, P800, who's been having trouble with the sound. SonyEricsson denies the problem.

The problem is not the sound you hear yourself. It's the sound that the other party of the call hears.

- Sometimes when I talk, it seems like every fourth or fifth word disappears, says Markus, one of the readers who have told Mobil aboutl the problem.

- The problem is present no matter if I'm in a noisy or quiet environment, Markus explains.

Markus informs us that the problem is worse if you lower your voice a bit.

- The most annoying about these sound-problems is my girlfriend. As soon as I lower my voice to say something cute, the sound almost completely disappears.

Even when we tested the P800 here in Mobil, we experienced that the people we were talking to had certain problems hearing us, especially in noisy environments, like on a subway or a bus.

SonyEricssons product manager, Per Alksten, claims not to have heard of any problems regarding the sound, neither has he experienced it with his own phone.

- The microphone is placed at the bottom of the phone, and when you hold it you might be placing your hand over the microphone, especially if you hold it in your left hand. That might be the explanation to the problem you are describing, Per Alksten says.

Markus is not at all convinced by Per Alkstens explanation.

- You hold the phone by the edges, not so that you cover up the bottom of the phone. Besides, the explanation can't be correct, since the problem comes and goes during a call.

...oh, and perhaps I should mention; I too have experienced the problem a couple of times, but that has in fact been my hand covering up the microphone. For those who haven't found it, it's the small hole a couple of millimetres from the headset-symbol at the bottom.
