View Full Version : Which operators lock the N70? garyparson 16-10-2005, 05:01 PM Out of.. 3 Orange O2 T Mobile Vodaphone Which lock the N70 and which come unlocked? (as standard) drchris 16-10-2005, 08:21 PM n70 on vodaUK is definately locked note1: due to my previous experience with my 6630; due to nokias new locking mechanism, it would be impossible to unlock it using the unlock calculators floating on the web note2: my bro got his 8800 on 02 the other day and its unlocked; you can draw your own conclusions from this :) Rafe 16-10-2005, 09:59 PM It does somtime depend on who you buy it from. Generally when sold direct from the network they are locked, but often 3rd party retailers use unlocked stock, especially early on in a phone's market life. drchris 16-10-2005, 11:40 PM It does somtime depend on who you buy it from. I noticed in the menus"Tools, Settings, Phone, General" that there is a function to "Delete Operator Settings" Does anyone know what will happen if this done?? Thanks Steve drchris 24-10-2005, 03:03 PM i just received my unlock code so vodaUK N70's can be unlocked for £19.99 I would guess it deletes the WAP/SMS/MMS/Internet/GPRS settings? why would u do that; it definately doesnt remove the SIM Card Restriction gadget_sa 24-10-2005, 03:30 PM I'm sure I read somehwere (don't ask where cos I can't bloody remember now!!) but if you delete the operator settings, it apparently "could" unlock some menus that have been restricted?!??! Not sure what, and not sure I want to try it so soon.... Maybe someone who is offline at the moment might be able to answer that one.... hopefully!!! macwhu 24-10-2005, 03:32 PM i know when you swap out the memory card for one large enough for a few albums of mp3s you loose loads of software - that happened on the 6680 i had for a week b4 the n70 arrived gadget_sa 24-10-2005, 03:34 PM Surely you can copy the old memory card onto the new one to avoid this happening.... I know a mate did it on his 6630?!?!? Please tell me you can!!! macwhu 24-10-2005, 03:38 PM i tried copying the content of the mmc card that came with the 6680 i had onto a 512 card but it didnt work all the apps appeared at the top level - no correct icons and they wouldnt run gadget_sa 24-10-2005, 03:40 PM Now thats not what I want to hear..... Now I'll have to work out whats on the card and trying and get the software from elsewhere...!! Thats an absolute poor deal!!! macwhu 24-10-2005, 03:47 PM i did it on a mac - so maybe its a pc/mac thing theres probabaly a way to do it gadget_sa 24-10-2005, 03:48 PM That could make sense..... I'm guessing if the 6630 allows it on a PC then so should our glorious N70...... garyparson 25-10-2005, 01:42 PM Maybe the 'show hidden folders' was unticked and only half the folder was copied to the newer card? gadget_sa 25-10-2005, 01:43 PM That could make sense too..... Ratkat 25-10-2005, 02:37 PM I copyed the contents of the supplied 64mb card on to 256mb card using my PC card reader. all worked fine |
