View Full Version : Reactivating phone??

07-11-2002, 12:22 PM
A friend of mine lost his phone and claimed a replacement from his operator, he subsequently found his lost phone again. Rather than tell the operator he had found the phone and give it back to them he gave it to me. Now the operator has deactivated the phone so when I put my sim card in I can't get any reception, does anyone know how I can reactivate my phone so it will accept my sim card?

Thanks in advance.

I dont know about where you live but in the UK changing the IMEI is an arestable offence! and I think they can even put you into prison for 5 years... which sounds absurd but its true!

So I wouldn't actually try that!

The best thing you could do is sell it to a dodgy mobile phone shop that repairs fones etc... they would probably:
1) Change the IMEI number themselves and use/sell it... :o
2) or dismantle the fone and get spare parts that they can then sell for more money... :-?

So... yeh... its upto you! Are you sure that your not just trying to pull an insurance scam?

You can by the new 7650 data cable (not sure where from but its somewhere in this forum) and use this to change the imei.I have experimented with this in the past with 3310/30s and it works a treat.

I dont know how they could prove that you changed the imei yourself. he he ;)

Warning: People have previously reported to having changed the IMEI on the 7650 and in doing so have buggered their phone. Such problems as the phone not holding a call or switching itself off.

You've been warned!!! 8)

3310/3330 phones are very different than Series 60 phones! I dont think that changing the IMEI can be achieved with the same procedure. Anyways, it illegal!
