Missing the days when you could create a simple blank database to store whatever information you like in it? Steve is, so he's been reviewing YData (http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/reviews/review2.php?id=149) for the Nokia Communicators. He ended up impressed.

When I moved from my Psion 5mx/Revo to a Nokia 9300 a few months ago, I needed to copy my Psion 'Data' address file to my 9300 and needed a database.

I first tried Ydata but, as the review points out, importing data was a pain and no matter what I tried, it screwed up the import. Emails for suggestions to the makers of Ydata proved a waste of time as they were very unhelpful.

Anyway, I tried 'SmallBase' from Corisoft and although it is slightly more complex to use, the import works perfectly and once you get to grips with it (which doesn't take long) it's much more flexible.

I'd suggest anyone looking for a database try both of these programs and see what works best for their needs.

Is Smallbase now available for the 9500/9300? I use the 9210 version on my 9500 but it crashes from time to time. Last time I enquired, the author was only considering making a 9500 version (and what to charge for it).

I'm using version 4.2 and their website lists the program as being for the 92xx/9500/9300. I guess that means it's essentially the old version that runs on the 9300 but I've not had any crashes with it so far.
