Hello all,

I wanted to know the pros and cons of Symbian OS v8.x and v9.x. Which OS version is better?

If we require to implement a parallel UI platform to Series 60 SDK which can take care of Key/Event Handling etc, which OS version of Symbian is better, Version 8.x or version 9.x?

After implementation, if we need to move it onto the other version (say from 8.x to 9.x or from 9.x to 8.x), which porting will be easier.

If we purchase license of one version can we get the license and source code of other with no license agreement and minimal cost?

Please suggest on the version that will be better for us.

Thanks and Regards,
Sinu

Not knowing the differences that deeply myself I'm guessing the main people you need to ask from the style of your question are Symbian themselves.

The 9.0 Os is not backward compatible.
Which would have been smart if Nokia increased the screen resolution standard for the 9.0 OS's, but didnts cause the N91 is a 9.0 OS yet it still has the low res of 176x208.

On the other hand where the N90 is 8.1 os, yet it has a higher resolution ~300x200, which would be uncompatible with s60 programs!?!?!
