It has been bought to my attention that several people (possibly the same person) has been asking for people to swap software and or registration codes via the PM system. All About Symbian does not condone this sort of behaviour in any way. You are liable to be banned if you are caught doing this (depending on the case you may get one warning). You will be banned staright away if you ever send out multiple messages like this on the PM system.

People should remember that although the PM system is private in that its is not publically acessible, however the admins do have access to all message via the database. I will not embarass those who might have replied to these PM messages with any signs of interest (consider this your first warning if you did). Nor will I reprint some of the language used by those who are equally annoyed by this behaviour as I am in reply to the messages!

If someone sends you such a message please report it to one of the admin or me by PM, or by e-mail to abuse@allaboutsymbian.com

Hat's off to you Rafe. It's a very good move to put your foot down and give out this warning. I mean, le's not be hypocrites, im pretty sure, most, if not all of us used warez at one point but this site is just not the venue to ask for it.

That exactly right. I'm sure that many of the people visintg this site (after all likely to be fairly tech competent) have dones something illegal software wise at some point.

I don't want to get into a debate. I just want it clear that this is not the venue for it with regards to Symbian and it will not be tolerated here.

I realise its an easy mistake to make which is why I generally issue warning / did you know this isn't allowed. The person in question this time was a complete newbie (had joined the forums yesterday) so its not anyone we know.

When I first came here and saw that even guest-postings were allowed, I thought this forum has to be a battlefield (anybody here who remembers how bad the guest-comments on PalmInfoCenter worked out?).

thou this maybe a good idea to prevent warez... but its against privacy... meaning even thou it may not be warez related but its a private conversation between 2, it will all be seen by the admin. this is bad... thou this board belongs to one of you guys doesnt mean the rights to invade someone's privacy... at least this is what i feel.
