I'm a very experienced Symbian OS developer (though I've always been involved in non-UI development) and would be interested in finding out what's involved in writing games for the platform. I have no previous experience in this, or indeed in graphics or UI programming in general however. Can anybody recommend a good book or similar or anything really to help get me started (I realise there won't by any games development books for Epoc but is there anything for C++ etc.?). Thanks

:-) Very experienced :-) Then can you please help us out ;-)
More importantly, I dont think there are books on game programming for Symbian. But what you can do is get some books on general game programming, which should help you out on game programming concepts like sprite animation, collision detect etc. Then you need to learn a few key symbian concepts of double-buffering and fullscreen access.. These will allow you to write graphics apps on the OS. Also read up on the graphics and animation section of the API guide, some important concepts of animation servers etc is explained therein.
Hope you get back to me on sharing your experience. regards
