Not really, as far as I know, but you can set an operator logo that matches the background colour (e.g., an all-white rectangle). The effect is the same. The operator logo resides in c:\system\apps\phone\oplogo and easiest way to set them is to install FExplorer (http://www.gosymbian.com/) and use it to set it.
