View Full Version : Any Nokia 7710 users in the Philippines?
vergel23 13-03-2005, 06:16 PM Hi. I'm from Philippines and I just want to know if anyone here from Philippines too who are using Nokia 7710. I got mine just a couple of days ago and I'm really having a wonderful time using it. I just want to ask my fellow Filipinos, what's ur firmware version?
Mine is
Vp 02.08.1
08-12-04
RM-12
Do you have the same version? Do you have any idea where can I upgrade my version to the latest?
THANKS YOU VERY MUCH
raulroolz 21-03-2005, 03:04 AM I just got a 7710 yesterday. So far, it's a great phone... Though there's a yellowish tint in the backlight... And the keypads do not light up, which is kinda weird. I bought mine from Nokia store for Php30K. Pretty good deal considering all the features it has.
Question though, is there a way to change the settings so that you don't have to tap items to twice to open them?
blackjersey 28-03-2005, 01:11 PM Hello,
i'm from the philippines, too. I understand that you bought your phone just this month ( march 2005 ) from a nikia delaer for only 30k.
I'm in Quezon City. Do you know where I can purchase one for myself? I'd prefer a nokia dealer though....
Need help please... nokia philippines site says that nokia 7710 phone is still in the upcoming models list...
Thanks! e-mail me if you want at:

I got mine at the Nokia store in Digital Exchange in Glorietta. It's in the 3/F, near Gold's Gym.

No, I don't have much problems with it. It's a pretty good phone. You just have to get used to it.
tsupatsupa 03-04-2005, 11:29 AM Here's my firmware, just got my phone yesterday at nokia cyberzone, SM North Edsa, php30998.00
V 3.04.2

RM-12
its such a new and great feel. i just love this one compared to my other phones (n7610 and n6630).
raulroolz 04-04-2005, 05:28 AM I returned my N7710 yesterday. Nokia decided to give me a full refund. After replacing the unit 3 times, I was dissatisfied with the yellow tint in the backlight. For those interested to buy this unit, I suggest to buy it in the Nokia store in Greenbelt 1, where it is only 29995. They have friendlier customer service there. As for me, I think i'll wait before buying a new phone. I might wait for nokia 6680 or the next phones by Sony. I'm also considering Eten M500. Nokia 7710 is too slow for me, and it doesn't have much applications. Furthermore, it's just too awkardly designed to be a phone. Otherwise, 7710 is great. It's just too bad that Nokia is discontinuing series 90 of Symbian, which was also a major factor for me returning this unit. There might be limited software available for this series.

Does your Nokia 7710 has a yellowish backlight color? I heard that the finland version doesn't have that and it's very bright.... I will buy mine next week. Please give me feedback!

I know why it has a yellowish backlight now...
It is intentionally built that way to prevent your eyes from straining. I just read this info in another forum...

no, its very clear.
before buying, test the phone, if not satisfied then dont buy.
buy it from any authorized nokia stores only.
blackjersey 05-04-2005, 01:29 PM Thanks man! Did you actually had the phone tested before you bought it?

Guys if you want to experience this phone before buying it, simply visit the Nokia store located at Greenbelt 1 (i think) 2nd floor. They have this working 7710 for exhibit where you can use it.
I tried it yesterday and here are my observations:
1. Slow when shifting to programs
2. a bit lag in camera mode (if you're moving the phone)
I really love this phone though because of its features but i can't replace yet my Nokia 6260 because the good thing about this phone is that you can twist the display and create a self-portrait picture. Which I really need coz i love taking pictures of my self and posting it in my friendster etc.
Even more, I heard that series 90 has been stopped by Nokia so the 3rd party softwares might stop producing also.
I think i'll just wait for the 6680 (with two cameras).
