guys , I found a way to read your arabic SMSs in 7710 without the need to forward them to another phone !!!

Actually , Nokia 7710 have good support for bidirectional text like arabic and hebrew.....but it just miss the fonts.

first you have to add arabic font to your 7710 phone , you can copy tahoma.ttf from c:\windows\fonts , and add it to your system fonts directory in c:\system\Fonts , the directory fonts is not exists , you have to create it there. another problem is how to access the c:\system in your phone !! I only was able to access it via powerfile , which I have its trail version :( any one can led me to keygen or crack will make me happy :)

after adding the font(s) there , open your arabic sms , select all the text , copy it , open Documents , create new one , paste the text in the new document.
now mark (or select) all the text in the document (which appear as small boxes) , go to the ment->format->font.. , now select the new arabic font that you have just installed.

tadaaaaa............it is working just fine :)
I will try to find a real solution for the SMS viewer in the future.

Check the latest Psiloc's Arabic Localization. It has some bugs fixed. You can use it as a trial verison to check if everything is OK.

Dear friends, I tried all your suggestions, nothing worked.:icon13:

Opening C:\System and creating directory called Fonts is impossible in 7710 was it by PC Suite or PowerFile, I really would like to know how you did it, did you use FileXchange ?

The Psiloc Crystal for 60 series Arabization localization application is killing 7710 and anyway you cant see anything in Arabic.

:D But there is a trick - a back door – Nokia and/or Symbian guys forgot to close. Device backup is copying all C:\ contents to the Memory Card, under a directory called Backup!? there you can go to \Native\System\ and create the Fonts directory, copy to it Tahoma.ttf then Restore.

Now my problem is creating a new Style (i.e. template), and keep it saved in documents. Because it is very stupid to keep on doing copy, paste, select all, change font whenever you need to read Arabic SMS.

Dear all Nokia 7710 owners

The good news, at last, is here. Now you can send and receive Arabic SMS directly from your Nokia 7710 Smart Phone. Just download the attached file SMSArabic Signed.sis to your computer and then transfer it to your 7710 main memory card's folder by bluetooth or USB cable using Nokia PC Suite application (Refer to the mobile's manual if you don't know how to do so).

After the file is copied into your mobile's memory card, open file manager from the mobile and run this downloaded application. Follow the installation steps that appear on your mobile's screen. After installation finishes, you MUST make a 'hard reboot' to your mobile, i.e. switch the phone off, remove the battery, put the battery back again, and finally switch on your phone again.

You will find a new icon installed called "SMS Arabic" which you can use to "write" Arabic SMS. To read your incoming messages, just open the SMS as usual.

I hope it works with you as with me. Enjoy ;) .

Dear Sir,

The App. works fine, I thank you for the effort. But I faced few hiccups on the way.

1.If you choose to install the App. on your memory card the fonts will be created on the memory cards

D:\System\Fonts\

NSCNB.ttf
NSCNR.ttf
NSTBD.ttf
NSTSB.ttf

thus you will need to copy them to C:\System\Fonts

2. When opening the Inbox SMS preview or received message window SMS preview is shown in reverse.

Overall it works fine, my 7710 is happy. :)

It's good that I found people facing the same problem I face.
I also installed Psiloc Arabic localization, namely the two installation packages Psiloc_CrystalArabic_S60.sis and Psiloc_CrystalArabic_UIQ.sis, the first one didn't work but the second caused my phone to fail at booting.
I thought that the solution is to reinstall the firmware but the Nokia web site does not provide a firmware for the 7710.

So I'm in need to any suggestions from PsilocSupport or from the other participants in this post who faced my problem, as it's painful to have such a phone dead.

hi, I'm egyptian and I was learning chinese, so I faced the problem of my arabic nokia 6630 not showing nor writing chinese,
any how after a hard time searching chinese sites (and my chinese is only elementary) I found the solution to reading & writing chinese on my 6630,

I don't know if this will help you, but I give you the steps that enabled chinese on my phone , hoping (while not guaranteeing) that it can help you too show and write arabic on your non-arabic phones,

the main program is for reading (chinese in my case) and it's called fontrouter , its function is to redirect unread (in my case chinses) text (that otherwise appears squares like this [][][][][] ) to chinese fonts, that means that english text is rendered using the default font, if some text is not english, it tries rendering it using the specified font file, which in my case I specified it to be a chinese font file, too complex , huh? :)

the site for this program is http://fontrouter.oasisfeng.com (it's in chinese :D but google translate can help), try the program's guidelines here
http://66.249.91.104/translate_c?hl=en&langpair=zh%7Cen&u=http://fontrouter.oasisfeng.com/forum/viewtopic.php%3Ft%3D2%26sid%3D789a16428866dd38852c f47c692cdc8f

it's automatically translated but it works!

all you need is found there at this site, sorry I don't have time to make detailed explanation, but this site should get you on the road.

the second program is for writing (chinese in my case), it's called fepswitch

it switches the fep (front end processor) that is used to input languages, from the original phone's fep to other fep file you choose,
in the attachment file I give you the fepswitch program, and the fep files from my 6630, I don't know if they will work with your phone, but anyway, here they are, they write english, french, arabic,

I hope this helps, enjoy !

ps : all of the aknfep files should go to the folder E:\system\fep\

if it doesn't work try C:\system\fep\

note that this folder will not exist untill you create it.

install FEPSwitch.EN.sis and choose between the two feps,
if something goes wrong, try renaming the aknfep files to anything else, I don't know,

mainly, if something goes wrong, try fixing it yourself, don't ask me :D

and the better solution over all this,
go to some nokia shop and have your phone flashed with arabic software !

greets :D
