Just reporting what the IT press claim...I get newsletters from the Webopedia News....this is the link to the report -

Yes. The Bluetooth SIG is an old organization (with backing from companies like Ericsson, Nokia, etc.) and their website has been up for several years with info, specifications, etc.

Yep...I have heard of and visited it...and its probably me just being picky ;)
but doesn't SIG mean 'Special Interest Group', and backing doesn't necessarily mean 'Official Support Recommendation'?
