dikkik 08-10-2002, 08:37 PM I m a software designer for nokia 7 series. Will send your requests at the Nokia house. I liked the wallpaper change and alarm change idea. The emulators, to be frank, is not possible..

MaleBuffy 09-10-2002, 12:19 AM Well, the only thing I want is support for external bluetooth storage like the Toshiba Pocket server or a PC's harddrive! :) Would be cool to watch Divx on my phone in my flat, lying in my bed :)
omar_g 09-10-2002, 12:30 AM A small & simple replacment for the standby screen:
A 'today' screen like Microsoft have developed for their Pocket PC's. Allows animated GIF's as a background to please all the requests above. Shows appointments and To-Do's for the next 48 hours.
Not the cumbersum Active Desk.
Edgedale 09-10-2002, 01:26 AM My wish-lists are :
1. Audio Profile for Bluetooth
2. Better Calendar ( better still like the PALM's datebook )
3. Build in web browser
4. The AUTO LOCK PHONE can be asign in PROFILES
5. All Appls (SiS and Jar) files installed have smaller file size just like what PALM's have.. super tiny file yet powerful application
lightbulb 09-10-2002, 08:06 AM yep i'd like a web browser too especially in a phone of this calibre :)
and the auto lock function too, just mentioning these to show there is demand hehe :P
also i dont know if i t can be done or not but being able to have the current date under the operator logo for all profiles as well as General. :)

erhum 09-10-2002, 09:36 AM <RANT>
Many of you seem to forget that this is a computer ... one that can deliver all sorts of capabilities. When you bother to think about applicaitons for the phone you should not limit your thinking to stand-alone stuff - games, screen savers, simple utilities ... they will all appear anyway. Think more about the things that would be useful to you in terms of being connected to the Internet while you are mobile. Think client-server, with small clients that might integrate a number of the underlying technologies such as MMS, WAP Push, WAP, alerts, etc. Think Network, where the network allows you to connect to your stuff (whatever that may be).
</RANT>
Personally, I would like to see a really useful set of applications that allow me to be more productive - that means integrated calendar (better than at present). The ability to be able to alarm everything, even contacts (for a call at 4:30 for instance). The ability to see files that are on my PC that I haven't bothered to sync with the phone.
I could keep going on this tack for hours.
My wife had a good idea...a little soft that turn the 7650 into a mirror
For a mirror, i don't think so.
unless the camera can be rotate to to the front with the main screen.
lightbulb 09-10-2002, 02:38 PM thanks very much cizake :D
erhum, i see the point you are making the thing is with my current lifestyle i dont really have the need for many of the features you have described, eg. currently i dont use bluetooth as i dont know anyone with a bluetooth device :)
You could say i am not a professional user :) but i like the gadgets and features hehe :D
MP3 Player with Wireless headphones!
MEMORY! MEMORY! MEMORY!
Touchscreen for better text input!
Al3xandr3 09-10-2002, 03:36 PM i would like a soft that can easily detect bluetooth users, and be able to message them. :D (and then just hope that a hot chick has its bt on...
Tsunami_Hiroshima 10-10-2002, 12:28 AM Wishlist for 7650:
1) Gameboy emu, the fact that there's enough interest in it will no doubt make it happen, even if its just to say "it can be done".
2) Liked the idea of thumbnail of calling contact being enlarged, wicked!
3) Hardware mod to enable camera zoom, that would be cool.
4) Intelligent Infrared, pain in the ass having to go through the menu and select IrDa each time I want to connect to my PC.
5) Ability for 7650 to realise an installable file has been sent from IR, move the file directly to the installer instead of wasting memory copying the file to the installer. I currently lose all jad sections of java installs this way (each file takes seperate message)??
6) Higher resolution photos :P
Don't flame me.
talk2sk 10-10-2002, 07:10 AM Hi,
I am currently learning to develop apps for the 7650. (Its a pain. frankly)..
The first app coming up will solve the keylock problem for many. (dont expect too much though).
But my humble request. Please keep your request to software development (Not requests for More Memory etc. I think there is another thread that discusses what you would like the next nokia 7650 to have or something like that). Just so that developers get a precise idea (which I suppose is the purpose of the thread).
I am not promising much, but whatever I can develop I will.
:-)
Thanks. (When I have the app ready, I will post it here.. Maybe Rafe can help me out too).
thegrey 10-10-2002, 09:53 AM Small tip if you want an animated backround. If you install the screensaver then you can add your own animated gif's. (yes they loop)
But offcourse it only works as a screensaver, as soon as you move anything then the animation goes away.
Would be nice to have it as a backround instead of a screensaver.
thegrey
to talk2sk,
You mean you want to create freeware for us.
Great. :D
I wish to have
1. Reminder Application.(Customizable alarm sound.)
2. screen saver.( I want to have other choice other than the PsiLoc & default)
3. answering machine.
4. message filter.Manage the incoming message into different folder base on different category(User define).
5. Able to choice the simcard phone book entry when sending sms without copied all the simcard entry into the contact application.
talk2sk 11-10-2002, 06:15 AM Ah good. The answering machine was on my list too...
Those are good ones. I will see what can be done. The problem being that the documentation is useless, I am having to learn stuff on a hit and try basis. Symbian really screwed up on the documentation.
Thanks for the list... (I hope all of them are freeware, but depends. ;-))
talk2sk 16-10-2002, 07:50 PM Ah well. After battling with the SDK here is my first app. Nothing much really as you will read.. But still just thought I will let you know.. I am working on improving this app, as well as doing some more apps. (I was trying to implement the Keylock thing, but the lack of documentation put me off.. I might give it another try though).

FOX HOUND 17-10-2002, 12:55 AM if someone did all this on the 7650 aladdin will swap his magic lamp for a 7650 in notime :)
Yippy,
Answering Machine :D .
How about a clock ,
the build in clock is useless, I have to set it everyday.
I wish to have a freeware like Handy Clock & WorldClock,
they said that it is all built in but Nokia didn't expose them.
Damn Nokia
All the user have to pay extra to get a built-in function,Damn you Nokia
I won't waste my money for any built-in functions.
I hope that someone will stand out. :-?
MaleBuffy 17-10-2002, 02:00 AM What do u mean when you say built in? What is built in?
Others told me that
The alarm clock is already running in the system.
Just like the 9210.
Symbian itself already support 8 alarm clock & they are ready to be used.
I just don't know why Nokia don't want to expose them.
The Alarm clock it an essential function for any Mobile phone nowaday.
It is ridiculous that the alarm function of my old phone is better that 7650 which is so called a smartphone :D
Calendar,Alarm,Clock,Reminder,Voice recorder should be provided by all the smartphone.
Whayt do you think?
MaleBuffy 17-10-2002, 02:16 AM I dont know abou the integrated alarm clock but I think that the alarm of the 7650 is no good! I agree that they could at least make an effort to improve some basic functions of the phone! Its a shame to spend bucks on software that should be there at the first place!
erhum 17-10-2002, 08:48 AM Most probably the reasonn you have to reset the time on your phone is because the PC you synchronise with has got the time wrong on it.
OTOH, you might have been complaining about the need to tell the alarm to wake you up every day. In which case ignore the above.
talk2sk 17-10-2002, 02:09 PM Rafe has setup a brand new forum, Development / Symbian C++ . I urge members to frequent this forum for keeping in touch further development news. Also there shall be tutorials on getting started etc soon, so hopefully more people will be involved in developing applications for the 7650.
Hello,
some of you want a gameboy emulator. You can find it here (http://www.wildpalm.co.uk/GoBoy7650.html).
But i haven´t tested it.
greetings , fred 8)
MaleBuffy 17-01-2003, 07:11 PM No comment.....:D
PsychoBoy 18-01-2003, 04:43 AM FIRMWARE ONLINE UPDATE!!
dezito 18-01-2003, 08:07 AM A Telnet Client would be cool
And maybe a software 2 change the rolling txt in the shopping windows, there is a IR in most of them

Telnet, try searching the AAS software directory.
Id like to see the wonderful efile manager with a simple restart function included rather than having systems tools installed as well :bday:
JyriK 19-01-2003, 01:22 AM Then go and get Domi's FExplorer. just 28Kb. And Restart function.
And "backlight on" option too.
GhostDog 19-01-2003, 05:32 AM Id like to see the wonderful efile manager with a simple restart function included rather than having systems tools installed as well :bday:
Try Domi's FileExplorer v 1.06,now it has the restart function.
making a request for an app (if not allready done)
an app wich makes the 7650-joystick act as a mouse on my comp.
(bluetooth)
(i know there is something called wireless mouse, but i dont have it:))
That way i could surf the net from my couch watching it on tv.
..hey.. its just a wish right.... :)
MemphisX 28-01-2003, 10:00 AM Well I would love to have a hardware monitor on my 7650 (not netmonitor).
To be more specific a program that it will give information like a signal meter in % style, battery's temprature, gprs banwidth meter/second,battery calculator (meening how much time it will last until the battery's going empty like the one Sony-Ericsson's mobiles have),cpu usage,etc....
1. InfraRed control tool, for TVs, VTRs, etc.
2. Fax sending
3. Program for PC, that able to control and backup all files, just like Nokia7650 is a removable storage drive (PCsuite sucks!)
4. remote bluetooth joystick for gaming
5. beer time reminder :P
many classic games i see on 7650, sucks. may be in the future this fact will be changed... i dont know...

Well I agree about 2 and 3.
! is almost impossible. I have seen that it is possible with some tricks on pc's in some way to make a standard infrared remote control to work with an irda dongle but it was useless because you the max distance you could get was 1meter.
4 for me is useless. Better buy a Logitech wingman cordless (uses the same technoly with bluetooth but I don't think it is compatible with the standard) or just wait, Microsoft allready created a mouse and keybord bluetooth set... we may also see a gamepad/joystick.
5?.....no comment! :D
And about the games, I prefer the classics than fancy looking (doom is an exception because it's a classic and not only good looking)
I have played some 3d games and I was dissapointed (like mgs Karting,Interstellar flames, etc etc). While classics are great (puzzle bobble, Prince of persia) and they are much smaller (doom is again an exception). So I prefer to have A goboy version with battery/save state emulation/support and play final fantasy legend, mario land 2,zelda...
Until then tetris and castlevania legends are enough.
PS: Not forget frodo (c64 emu) with Bubble Bobble, Zorro and many other classics. I am still waiting for this.....
more efficient screen usage
a paint program (highly recommended)
camerafreak 30-01-2003, 12:17 AM I need some sort of program for my 7650 that does the things that nokia data suite does for the other models, ie 6310i shed loads of stuff on the cd that came with that phone, hardly anything on the cd that came with my lovely left out in the dark 7650.
can any one suggest a piece of software to do the job.
thanks :D
I bought a TDK USB Bluetooth adaptor, the contact manager with that doesn't work with the 7650 either, this must be a conspiracy......NO I'm not changing my phone....

A text editor would be great together with the existing FTP client. Right now I can upload pictures to my Web and publish them using a Blog and some kínd of gallery software (http://m-cam.sno.pp.se/pp7650/) while on the move, but I'd really love to be able to edit all HTML files on my Web.
A small SSH2 client would also be useful. With this I'd be able to administrate the entire Web.
AEFOX 03-03-2003, 08:02 PM hi!
- Infrared Universal Remote Control (for everything, using brand codes)
- The Background change every day that can be on the calendar options, we assign to each day of the week one BG :) (BTW! by now we can use an GIF slideshow as a BG and put 24 hours show to each frame, so there we have a different BG each 24 h. :D )
- A Fade in and Fade out for the Backlight, for more softness and style 8)
- Fade in and Fade out Menus :D , and transparent value
- TRUE TYPE FONTS system and apps compatible, to assign any style, type and font size for menus and apps, and almost 3 different icon sizes (using rescale of the same icon to save memory of course)
- Automatic Bluetooth turn on when needed and turn off time out when is not in use to save battery. (system options)
- Voice Commands App, to show pictures, to run any app, to play a mid song, etc.
- Pop up configurable start menu (like windows Start menu), like when you use New Msg. on the softkey and you press it and you see SMS, EMAL, MMS.. well the same, but said START key and we assign the list of things to see or play or run. And that it use little submenus too.
ok that´s it by now :D
cya!
paint app.
external bluet. hd enabler app
an app for to understand the letters that we shot through camera.(like the ones for scanners) it enough even it can only understand machine writing.
evobit 03-03-2003, 11:30 PM An Icon customizer!!!
And a way of removing standard apps that have been replaced with much better aftermarket ones.. (dreaming maybe..)
pidz111 04-03-2003, 02:37 AM - APP FOR WEBCAM CAPABILITIES
- A COMPACT APP that include every small details (kelock, restart, torch, and all those small but usefull sofware all in one app.)
Still looking forward for the Webcam Capblity... so that i wont hav to buy a webcam anymore... :D
Mint_Sauce 04-03-2003, 04:16 PM I'd like the option to be able to auto sync with other 7650's regarding contacts and calendar. My girlfriend has a 7650 and it would be handy to know what we are both doing, easiest way would be just to view calendar and her schedule appears there without having to select each individual thing and sending via BT.
JyriK 04-03-2003, 05:04 PM - A COMPACT APP that include every small details (kelock, restart, torch, and all those small but usefull sofware all in one app.)
FExplorer by Domi
restart, torch, screencapture. And filebrowser of course.
pidz111 05-03-2003, 12:39 PM oh yeah, jyrik.... domis FE...
but there still some missing. ...hehehe (am i demanding or what) like the keylock .. :)
Mod or SID player... Would love to use them as my ringtones.
Not practical, purely cosmetic...But I dont care :D
Mig29 12-03-2003, 03:51 AM I'm new to this forum so I went through all threads before getting here and it's quite interesting to find out that out the wish lists posted in October 2002, most of the things are now here...encouraging.
Nowadays we all want more space on 7650 or access to storage device via BT and better games, interactive if possible.
To respond to Mint_sauce who'd like to know what his GF is busy with through 7650 calendar, there will be a new service available from operators called "Presence". Similar to Outlook, you'll be able to set your status and other users can see it.
To me more interactivity would be nice, using existing Location Based service for instance. LBS have been launched in many networks but are barely used, you can locate yourself, other users or specific outlets with an accuracy of 50m (using triangulation from invisible SMS sent to you). Let's imagine a map based, interactive software on 7650 where you could locate your friends, restos, anything. I'm sure this is all feasible!
someone could do app that shows uptime!
just "port" uptime from linux?-) and uptimed.. :)
all i want in addition to the standard is Bluetooth Audio support... This is possible but they just won't do it.
liverpool lad 25-03-2003, 05:43 PM In response to Mig29's comments, in Spain all 3 operators offer Location Based Services (eg nearest 24 hour chemist, restaurant, petrol station). To be honest I haven't used it... But when you can download a portion of a streetmap (1km radius of your location, or user defined..?), with static data like restaurants, and also dynamic data like friends... I think the dynamic data will be more accepted by the public, ie they will pay for it. Because you can always ask where that Italian restaurant is...
It's waiting to happen :D (sounds like a combination of operator service and MimiGPS)
Paul
A voicerecorder app, that can record more than only one minute, and an app that will make the picture of someone calling you appear on screen in fullscreenmode. And an app like videoMMS that will be able to load video from MMC on nokia 3650.
Macintosh 01-05-2003, 08:01 PM something to open container Vcal files!!
Al3xandr3 01-05-2003, 08:50 PM T ome a great app would be some kind of a bluetooth manager where you could message anyone with an active bluetooth connection
Marius 02-05-2003, 09:00 AM I want a program that can play fullscreen videos, and a good msn program :D from which we can send pictures from the phone to the whoever :P
-soft to change alarm sound!!!! (it's very IMPORTANT!!!) :P
Im sure theres programs that can do this
-soft to change colour palette.
Pextender.sis - freeware
-soft to change background picture everyday or week ;P
:-? You can change your background as often as you want. Menu>Tools>Settings>Phone>Standby Mode> Background Image
-soft to enable network monitor!!!!
Im sure Ive seen this somewhere. No idea what it does though
yourmanlee 02-05-2003, 11:51 AM What about tiny fans or wipers under the screen that can get rid of the dust......
or what about tiny people that can climb throughthe tiny gap in the softkeys with a bucket of water and clean the crap off?!
Hey, just an idea! :) :)
No seriously, BT Audio is essential and Nintendo emulator would rule!
Lee
If the camera could swivel 180degrees, I would love to see Mirror.sis
So you could check yourself out wherever you are :D Im sure this would be very simple to make. Maybe this could be considered for future series 60 phones
how about mame for the 7650 that would be cool. if you can do nintendo surely mame is posssible ?
terrence1177 02-05-2003, 03:46 PM I would want to have an app where in I can save an sms and have it set to send at a specified time
I'm looking for a program that could be VERY useful, as I believe most will agree with. I'm looking for a program that let you run a command line
in linux / win2k or XP . You goys have made amazing things - and considering Bemused being able to shut down the PC and control winamp, how har dcan it be to run a console command?
Anyone up for the challange?
Hektik 03-05-2003, 09:33 AM I'd like to be able to lose the text labels in Smart Launcher and have larger icons! mwahahahahah
/me runs around screaming and laughing hysterically!
FOX HOUND 04-05-2003, 04:45 AM i still want it to make coffee in the Morning :morning:
softwares that: 1. will bypass the network for free gprs, mms and email. 2. Can zoom on an image without losing quality and can capture the zoomed image. 3. An app that has the functions of both space doubler and stacker. 4. An app that will eliminate "unknown file format" message when sending files from phone to phone. 5. An external device to store/retrieve files to compensate 7650's small memory.

i think the best software is video software that can zoom and sounds too. although there are video that record a sound too but it is enough because no zoom
GhostDog 04-05-2003, 12:08 PM Chris,i think that you should lay off hard drugs for a while...
I don't do drugs. Nothing wrong on wishing. Besides they're not impossible.
a screentaker, that only takes screencapture that is the size of the wallpaper, so you can use it for cutting your images for the background. Do you understand?
ill try to explain.
The screentaker that you can get now, captures the full screen, i would like it to take pictures that fitt'd perfect for background.
