I've tried the pocketcounter for series 60, but my 6600 refused to start it.
Tried it after i completely formatted the whole phone, still didn't start.

So are there any other timer/countdown apps for 6600 out there?
Free or for purchase i don't mind either.
The countdown should preferably have some kind of beep/tone
when the counting goes to 0.

Cheers.

Try searching the forum or the shop: http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/shop/ for stopwatch or timer. There are quite e few.

Pocketcounter works if you install it to the phone memory (not MMC!). :)
You can download another good countdown utility (Egg Clock) here (http://people.freenet.de/hskopp/eggclock.html).

The Egg Clock is Ok, simple and straightforward, but sounds are either to slightly too noisy or too humble. A nice program that can be developed to something quite good.

I've also searched for such utilities for a while (which I think should have been included in the software from the beginning) but not really found anything good (that is freeware). This is the best one so far.

You can change the tones in Egg clock by moving the sound clip you want into the egg clock folder and renaming it (regular.rng for example).

Tried moving a waw into the Egg Clock folder and renamed it to regular.rng, but the application still goes BEEEEP! There was no soundfile in the folder to start with...

No soundfile?

There should be 6 in total, all .rng but renaming a wav (rather than waw lol) works on mine, you only get 3 seconds of sound before it repeats, but thats ok. :)

a company called MobilyT has nice stopwatch and countdown app's available; not free though.. the only 'issue' I have with them is the fact that when they are running, they keep the display light turned on; efficiently kills the battery :P
