Whenever I recieve an SMS: There is no sound, no "1 message recieved", no screen light-up... just a small envelope icon appears in the corner.

Also, when I recieve a call there is no sound, alert on screen or anything.

This has only been happening tonight. I am using General profile, the settings ARE fine as it was working earlier. I made no change to my phone before-hand. I've rebooted several times too.

Any cures? Anyone else had this?

Whenever something strange happens, delete the startermonlog.txt file which is an error text record file in the os,when this file is created it sometimes causes bizzare situations.

This may not be the problem but try it (it can do no harm) restart after.

well i dont know if this helps but a while ago i was having problems when i wasnt receiving calls - the log would tell me that they came through but the phone didnt ring so i used a friends phone to call myself and just as the phone was about to ring i got a message saying there wasnt enough memory to run the program - the program being telphone - so the call was automatically rejected, i close a few programs that start at startup and it was working perfectly again. So that might be your problem

I ensure I have no apps running in the background, only telephone. I have restarted the phone many times and still same problem.

:( gutted, I don't even know when someone is messaging or calling me anymore

Elton: No I havent, just because I don't really want to lose all my data. I dont mind losing the programs I'm just concerned about all the images, contacts etc.
I am considering it now though, there are 2 types of format.. hard and soft? So I understand. Is there an effective format which will minimize data loss, and also how can I backup everything using only bluetooth to PC. I have no card reader.

Vicky: when you say sometimes get the problem. do you mean it comes and goes away? This has been 48 hours now. can I expect it might suddenly stop?

Cant wait for some new firmware. Gonna wait til the next one after the current one as ive heard so many bad reports of it

Maybe one of the programs you have installed is having conflict with your phone itself. U may want to uninstall these programs and try it out.

As for current firmware, the main complain is the restriction in sending certain file type over BT and IrDa (for copyright protection). Apart from that, there is no major issues I am aware of.

Move all photos to mmc and save all contacts to sim, then format and you wont lose either. :D

Thanks Elton,

Does this usually fix things? should do i guess if its a S/w bug.

I know this sounds newbie-ish but I move everything critical to me to my MMC, move contacts to Sim (which only holds 100?) so can i move them to mmc as well?? Then where do I go to do this format cos there are 2 types of format arent there.. :S

Thanks in advance

I dont think you can move the contacts to mmc, search the forum for this answer (it was covered recently).

Use another Sim and store another 100 (how many you got? lol)
(another problem with this is you lose other details ie e-mail,home/business saved as 2 contacts, but better than losing alltogether).

Read the Formatting Sticky for the best fomatting solution for you.
