hey guys, 2 quick questions...

1. is there a way to set an mp3 as your ringtone? i know that wav works but i dont want to lessen the quality/bother with all those different settings.

2. does anyone make an adapter for the headseat 2.5mm jack to a normal audio heaphone 3.5mm jack? maybe an online store, preferably in the US?

thanks a lot.

Using a .wav doesnt lessen the quality and its not rocket science mono/8 bit/44100hz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes you can use an mp3 as your ringtone.

Transfer it to the phone or MMC via PC Suite and it will convert it into the ringtone format for you. You can then select it from the ringtones menu like any other.

When you use Pc suite it converts the file (as you said) into .wav,
which is EXACTLY what they said they didnt want.

Anyway the post is a week old now and has been answered already.

Im only messin,Welcome again!

Reading it gave me the impression that he didn't want to convert the MP3 to WAV himself, so I was pointing out that PCSuite would do it for you, which he may not have known.

webmeister, lets not confuse people, having a mp3 converted to wav as a ringtone is one thing, using an mp3 as a ringtone is another.Only Series 60 Nokia phone that can do it is the N-Gage.

All I was doing was pointing out to the guy that PCSuite can convert his MP3s to WAV for him, saving him the trouble, which he may not have known.

Friendly community this is....

Sorry webmeister, but i did say Welcome which sounds friendly to me?

Ghostdog said "No" you cant use "MP3" as ringtone(which is true)
You said "Yes you can"(which is false)

All i was pointing out is that the original poster didnt want to use wav and you said "Pc Suite converts the file into ringtone format"(wav).

I was just having a joke coz the original question seemed pretty clear cut to me! (please take it that way):D

Well I'm looking for a 3.5 to 2.5 one in the UK. Dabs, Google and the Nokia Website don't have any. Anybody got any ideas?

There are other places, but this should do the trick (in the UK):
http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=109747

One thing I saw for another phone was a headset with a radio stuck in the middle of the cable. That'd seem a great idea for a 6600 headset.

that expansys link is dead now, but having been looking for a similar item found one here:

if the link doesn't work, do a search on maplin for:
2.5mm Stereo Plug to 3.5mm Stereo Socket Adaptor
