View Full Version : Release Date jackabite 24-02-2004, 09:16 PM Anyone know when this beauty is going to be released? evobit 24-02-2004, 10:22 PM 3rd quarter this year apparently. It's a nice looking phone, but doesn't have any features over other s60 phone unless you're looking for a clamshell... MemphisX 24-02-2004, 10:48 PM Lastly, one thing I was expecting for a long time. A smartphone from the company I trust most. But it doesn't seem to be a killer smartphone... And by the way I hate clamshell phones (Although females love them for stupid reasons)... Ismail 25-02-2004, 12:41 AM hey memphisx i was like you until i got one now i dont want to change it:D jac57 26-02-2004, 04:37 PM wrong ... im female and i cant stand flip phones so i wont be buying it MemphisX 26-02-2004, 10:35 PM Originally posted by jac57 wrong ... im female and i cant stand flip phones so i wont be buying it Ok, the majority of females. At least every woman (including my mother, sister and ex-girlfriend) I know wants small phones and if they are clamshell then it is also good because: (just listing what I have heard from them) 1. You won't have to worry when you throw it on your bag (for scratches on the screen etc.) - YEAH RIGHT 2. They are usually small - UNTIL YOU OPEN THEM 3. They are more distinctive - HAVE TO OPEN TO SEE WHO IS CALLING 4.Reminds of the make up accessories - ...WOMEN...!!! And many more... :( So hearing from you that you hate them makes me feel happy - at last a logical woman maybe the 2nd after Laura who has a Communicator :D Ismail 27-02-2004, 01:27 AM just a couple of corrections 1. You won't have to worry when you throw it on your bag (for scratches on the screen etc.) - YEAH RIGHT what do u mean yeah right ofcourse the screen is protected 2. They are usually small - UNTIL YOU OPEN THEM thats their advantge, alot of features, alillte space 3. They are more distinctive - HAVE TO OPEN TO SEE WHO IS CALLING most of them have externel screen to know whos calling without opening the phone :p GhostDog 27-02-2004, 06:00 PM After a close examination of this thread I decided to respond with a very thought-out and reasonable answer: Clamshells suck! (Except the Communicator) :o Ismail 28-02-2004, 01:48 AM Originally posted by GhostDog Clamshells suck! Keep throwing it to your bug and you'll end up with no phone but intact screen. Isn't that worrying? 2. Unfortunately none of the clamshell phones I have seen (except of the Sharps GX20 and GX30 which are bigger than the others) have alot of features... 3. The phones with the external screen showing who is calling is a minority not to mention that you'll hardly read who is it, while on any other smartphone you can see the big photo from distance (even on s60 with 3rd party apps like Symbianware's FScaller). I am in no way trying to offend you but that is just my opinion about clamshell phones. The only clamshell I liked was the Mitsubishi Concept. And by the way the dream clamshell phone for me would be a communicator with series60 outside and series90 inside with qwerty keyboard but with a tablet pc style where the screen part can rotate and then the device would be like the 7700 hiding the keyboard. That's the communicator I would like to see instead of the latest 9500... Symbolic 02-03-2004, 02:23 PM "It's a nice looking phone, but doesn't have any features over other s60 phone unless you're looking for a clamshell..." Actually that's false. The press release says that native Word/Excel/Powerpoint documents will be editable on this phone. That's the whole reason I didn't buy a 6600. X700 >> 6600 easily. Ismail 03-03-2004, 12:31 AM hey memphis we could go on for years arguing so ill end it any way every person has his opions right?;) @Symbolic: i think there is a program to do that on 6600 try the shop;) GhostDog 03-03-2004, 06:45 PM Ismail, there is no application for editing excel document for Series 60,only for UIQ.There is PocketWord, for Series 60,but i think that you can only view and not edit files.QuickPoint Series 60 is a Powerpoint viewer. langdona 03-03-2004, 07:42 PM At 3GSM Mobility Electronics announced (http://press.mobilityelectronics.com/phoenix.zhtml?c=120809&p=IROL-NewsText&t=Regular&id=499139&) Quickoffice Premier for Series 60. Which according to them "Now Enables Series 60 Smartphones to Open, View, and Edit Native Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Files ". I dont think this version is available for download yet but it should be by the time the X700 is out. Ismail 03-03-2004, 09:51 PM @ghostdog:thats why i said i think there is Symbolic 04-03-2004, 01:19 PM Great info langdona, thanks. MemphisX 04-03-2004, 10:15 PM Originally posted by Ismail hey memphis we could go on for years arguing so ill end it any way every person has his opions right?;) I agree with you but anyway being a SMARTPHONE and more important (at least for me) being PANASONIC is a big excuse for me to overlook the clamshell thing... After all it is a very nice device (for a clamshell?:p kidding!) MarcTGFG 24-10-2004, 02:04 PM http://www.produkte.panasonic.de/product/product.asp?sStr=1@-@@@@@@@@@X700@@&altMod=Y&prop= Delta737 24-10-2004, 05:31 PM So it IS actually gonna be released! Good news I guess :D RickyTec 25-10-2004, 12:01 AM Anyone knows how much is going to cost? Delta737 25-10-2004, 07:28 AM I heard it was going to be between €450 and €500 RickyTec 25-10-2004, 11:34 PM Good price. It will be one of the cheapest series 60. Watch out Nokia! :) autumn 06-11-2004, 10:31 PM hey guys, ive got a question, im new to this symbian things etc. but will the x700 support software that are for the nokia 6600? because both are os60?? N/A 07-11-2004, 10:30 AM It should; in the same way as the Siemens SX1 and Sendo X (except that the x700 will have Series 60 2nd Edition). The_Fellowship 06-12-2004, 03:14 PM Anyone know when this phone will be released in the UK? Seems like it's gone very quiet...lol unregs 08-12-2004, 01:36 AM Well, X700 will be released this december 2004, All factory is just waiting for the approval of network providers and dealers. That's good news for all of us....... Try to check its camera resolution, It has a auto contrast that automatically adjust when in view finder mode..... EVEN IN DARK PLACES, U CAN STILL SEE IMAGES....... Try to compare it with Nokia 7610 (mega pixel phone) and you will see what i mean.... My Bro is working in Panasonic (PHI) that's why I know........ N/A 08-12-2004, 04:21 AM Vodafone (Germany) seems to list it already: http://www.vodafoneshop.de/shop/detail/index.cfm?LOGID=2004120802272745247310821742220029 99011026826048005630680&artikel_daten_id=2871 MarcTGFG 10-12-2004, 05:23 PM I played witha mockup of the X701 Vodafone branded version today. They should have it in their shop next week. The mockup had a somewhat uneven tactile feedback. Especially the five way navigation wasnt as usable as I had hoped. *rant* I cant believe that after dozens of new series 60 phones, there is still none with a navigation joystick or button that is equal or better in tactile feedback and usability than the very first series 60 phone the Nokia 7650. Simply incredible! *endofrant* I guess we have to wait for the final production version. After showing 11/1 as the reölease date on a HIDDEN page on their website, they changed it to 12/1 and only a couple of days ago it changed again to 1/1/05. That, and the fact that it took Panasonic more than 9 months after showing first prototypes at CeBIT, makes me wonder what the problem is... |
