Thanks loGan 19-02-2004, 09:20 AM Depends how much memory you have really. The bigger the better and the higher quality you can decode. Having said that I find the quality at defaults settings to be pretty astonishing. This prog is amazing and the ripping process is incredibly quick compared to using Virtua dub and Mobiclip and the quality in my opinion is better. The file sizes may be slightly bigger though I am not convinced of that either. I find a whole widescreen movie ripped at 80Kbs equates to a file size of between 90 and 120 MB depending on its length which is perfect for me and my 256mb card. This is a widescreen movie however which means you get the letterbox effect on screen. I don't know whether this significantly reduces the file size. I mailed the developers of this and asked if they were going to include some cropping and scaling functionality into the ripper and they said they woudl try which is cool. Hopefully this would enable us to reduce the letterbox effect in the ripping process so when watching on the mobile you actually use more of the screen and get a bigger image. shahid104 19-02-2004, 02:04 PM where can i find smartmovie? thanks loGan 19-02-2004, 06:18 PM I got it from Handango.com AEFOX 19-02-2004, 07:04 PM HI!.. I did some tests... just the video quality tested... same video source ... same bit rate at 160kbits... both on portrait aspect (similar file size result) One using the new SmartMovie Converter to AVI format Other using QuickTime Pro converter to 3GP format (H263 codec) The first one (avi) played on SmarMovie player looks ok... but darker, blurer and washed colours, not saturated like the 3gp played on the build in RealOne Player... I did this test using 8000khz for audio (the lower quality) for both videos... But, the Audio SYNC with video was not too good on the AVI... and it's perfect sync on the 3gp ... The frame rate on the AVI is not stable, on the 3gp is always the same, not lag or frame droped ... The 3gp look smoother, better colours and sharp than avi ... SmartMovie can show full Landscape videos... true... but to see what? ... more lagg... more pixalated... all that more clear? nice! so... sorry SmartMovie... i keep using QuickTime PRO to convert to 3gp format and play on RealOne... by now to me still been the best quality for videos on 6600 ... cya! deathmonger 19-02-2004, 09:49 PM All I get is: App Closed! Smart Movie I've installed it in the MMC, may be that the problem?? deathmonger 19-02-2004, 10:20 PM I've updated from version 1.01 to 1.02 and what I get now is: App Closed! Audio Streaming And what's more, after some time, a couple of minutes the phone starts doing some weird things and then resets itself!! argh!!! :D loGan 20-02-2004, 10:38 AM AEFOX How long does it take you to convert a movie to 3gp using Quicktime just out of interest? GhostDog 20-02-2004, 11:08 AM I can answer that.Forever! SmartMovie is a great open standard solution, its just need a little tweaking. The best quality, still goes to Mobiclip. All of the other players,RealOne,PvPlayer,SmartMovie need lower fps(arround 15fps)for smooth movie playback.Mobiclip can play a high quality 24-30 fps movie with no problems. The only drawback is the size of the file. I belive SmartMovie will turn out to be quite good. AEFOX 20-02-2004, 01:48 PM hi!.. IoGan ... take a few seconds depending on your PC and how long is the video... ok.. i did again some test with the last version... a lot better... i like SmartMovie now... :D ... cya! |
