MisterBlue 16-02-2004, 03:58 PM Is it me, or the sendo x pictures on the web site have changed?
It looks darker than before.
Could it be the final version?

pelwell 16-02-2004, 04:14 PM Yes, the edges are dark/black. Take a look at these shots taken at a recent conference:

willbrady 16-02-2004, 05:24 PM Looks sexy.
Proves that something is happening over at sendo I guess.
I just wish they would put some release info on their site..

Rayman 17-02-2004, 11:25 AM The pre production phone I saw just before Christmas had a carbon fibre effect edging to it like the one on the website. Maybe they'll do edging options (if it ever reaches the general public)?
Personally I'd prefer it if they sorted out the production problems rather than look at cosmetic issues. Unless they have had to reinforce the edges for some reason........
Jadeviper 17-02-2004, 01:30 PM Unofficial rumours suggest sometime in April for a UK release, that seems rather soon though considering it's not been announced yet.
April? well thats sad news to hear.. mitac 8390 is the runner up on my list and its actually availiable
Smirnoff 18-02-2004, 09:29 AM The color around phone is really changed...
jarold 02-03-2004, 06:50 PM Hi All,
Yes, the edges of the phone have changed. They are now a fine chequerboard design in dark grey and black giving a 'sporty' appearance.
Current plans are for both finishes to be available at launch but this is not yet finalised.
willbrady 02-03-2004, 10:48 PM Some more new pix

Mate, it's called Carbon Fibre, or "Carbon Fibre look"
DAN55 05-03-2004, 06:28 PM mmm...how easy is that d-pad gonna be? looks a bit tricky to me
markus1133 06-03-2004, 08:52 AM Several new pics from the German Sendo Headquarter.

drewdrewbb 09-03-2004, 04:57 AM I guess I put this post in the wrong heading.
When I compare various smartphones in the market right now, I do not see any smartphone that can support 265K color in their OS, for instance MS Mobile 2003, Symbian OS or Linux. That brings me up a question about the capably in handling the level of colors between the handset and the OS.
Do you guys think that even the handset can support up to 262K colors but not the OS, will the manufacturer still officially claim that the handset is only 65K color? One good example is the Mitac 8390: Officially Mitac was saying 8390 could only support 65K color. However the box showed that it was 265K color supported. Another example is the new Motorola 3G series. Since they are modelled as the same model number, like V1000, E1000 and A1000, I realize that they are having similar spec. and similar TFT. Only A1000 is using 65K screen while the other two are 262k screen. We all know that A1000 is a symbian phone. Does that make the difference? That makes me confusing about the potential of Sendo X. Can anyone comfirm the true color level in both hardware and software? From my understanding, none of the symbian GSM phones has 265K colors so far except those Japanese PHS phones. Thanks!
jarold 09-03-2004, 04:01 PM In answer to the query about how easy the joypad is to use.
You get used to it; I've played a number of games on the Sendo X and the only one that was slightly wearing was Doom but that's a pretty frantic game anyway! even on a PC or Playstation!
magnificus 09-03-2004, 05:09 PM Jarold
I'm from spain, from madrid, and I'm thinking buying it.
Do you know the price for this my country?
Thanks
jarold 09-03-2004, 05:41 PM Sorry, the only prices I've heard bandied around are those 400-500 euros SIM free ones.
Telefonica locked phones will be priced as Telefonica desire.
Looking forward to your opinion if you manage to grab one though! I've lived with it for the last several months so it's not new to me anymore
DAN55 09-03-2004, 06:37 PM thanks Jarold (d-pad answer)
what about the NOW! screen? thats one of the main reasons for me thinking of getting the X. i understand that you can put links to any apps in there? even the agenda? (cant do this on a 6600)
jarold 09-03-2004, 07:13 PM Yep!, the Now! screen is neat!
It actually conists of a number of panes that you can cycle through , you start off with four default ones, but you can add further panes if you want and give them titles so you know which is which. You can alter the background to show predefined wallpaper or any image that you have on your phone (and alter the text colour so it shows up more clearly)
You can define the right 'softkey' (the black key immediately below the screen (there are two: left and right) to be a quick link to any application you want on each Now screen
In each pane of the Now! screen you can put links to web pages, applications etc. The screen can also include displays that tell you if you have any messages and if you have read them or not, if you have any to do items and if you have done them, any upcoming appointments etc.
All in all a great flexible application. I'm sure you'll love it!
shiner 09-03-2004, 07:31 PM Any idea when the phone will be in the shops in the UK ? Expansys for example ?
Thanks,
Pete
jarold 10-03-2004, 07:22 AM Sorry Pete, Telefonica in Spain is the only one I've heard so far with regards to where the X is going.
That's where the main focus is right now, other countries & markets will, I'm sure follow fairly soon afterwards. I'll post word when I get it
DAN55 10-03-2004, 10:02 AM ta jarold
i cant wait...well i can! ;)
DAN55 10-03-2004, 05:27 PM jarold:
is there a calendar style date picker when setting reminders in the organiser? or do you just enter date and time for the alarm?
jarold 11-03-2004, 10:15 AM Yes, there is a calendar that you can use to select dates to set reminders, meetings, appointments, to-do items on etc.
DAN55 11-03-2004, 10:25 AM thanks Jarold:
it gets better and better. sounds like Sendo have put the extra effort in, unlike some others i could mention ;)
is the T9 standard nokia kit? think that is the best on the market anyway
jarold 11-03-2004, 05:02 PM I believe the T9 is copyright Tegic Communications but since the phone is based on (an enhanced) series 60 platform then I would guess it is.
DAN55 11-03-2004, 05:07 PM they seem to vary a fair bit though. is it nice and quick? ive used ericsson and siemens versions, and they are noticeably slower than nokia ones. also they dont seem to guess words as accurately
jarold 11-03-2004, 06:22 PM I am by no means an expert texter myself (that'd be my wife!) so I couldn't say, TBH it's plenty fast enough for me.
willbrady 11-03-2004, 06:53 PM How's about posting up some pix or vids taken with it :)

lezzl 12-03-2004, 12:11 PM ...and maybe a small review would be nice, too..:D
DAN55 12-03-2004, 12:13 PM certainly would be!
...or a user manual ;)
shouldnt that be on the website soon?
pelwell 12-03-2004, 12:45 PM You mean you don't have it?
It's been on the website for months (I got it November 28th), but I can't remember the route to get to it. However, here is an external mirror:
http://www.tomnufc.beigetower.org/sendo/
jarold 12-03-2004, 03:32 PM You guys are bound to have seen a bunch of reviews of early models around the place on the web and in the mags (mobile choice issue #90) so I don't see the value in me adding a review.
Besides which considering my position it is likely to be very positive ;-)
Not sure how you guys got hold of the manual as it isn't on the sendo site yet!
pelwell 12-03-2004, 03:45 PM Jarold - I obtained the manual from the Sendo site back in November. I've found the URLs now:
http://www.sendo.com/manuals/X/X_en_Manual.pdf
http://www.sendo.com/manuals/X/X_en_QuickStart.pdf
I would not have posted the link if I thought they had been obtained illicitly.
shiner 12-03-2004, 04:24 PM I hadn't seen the manuals.
Have now - thanks for the links.
Are the earphones (for listening to MP3's) included with the phone or are they extra ?. Also, is the folding keyboard going to be available from launch ?
moamoa 12-03-2004, 11:08 PM I am very keen on the folding keyboard and would love to know when it will be available too?
coma_zgb 13-03-2004, 06:12 PM i heard that the screen is not very good, that it can be compared vith nokia 4k tft screens (7650,3650)
willbrady 13-03-2004, 06:24 PM Well, no one has seen a release phone yet so no one knows for sure, my 3650 screen is fine and dandy anyway so if it's compairable to that then it's fine by me.
Will
coma_zgb 13-03-2004, 07:10 PM yes but 64k screen is much better, the best screen i've seen is SE z600
jarold 15-03-2004, 11:59 AM Yes the earphones come with the phone
AS for the screen it looks fine to me
coma_zgb 15-03-2004, 01:12 PM great, so it will probably be my next phone. i just hope it won't be too expensive
moamoa 15-03-2004, 03:19 PM Originally posted by jarold

What about the folding keybaord? ready at launch or not?
dragon-tmd 16-03-2004, 07:39 AM AFAIK, the Keyboard and the rest ist ready to ship at May 2004 ....
DAN55 18-03-2004, 03:41 PM Jarold:
ive just had a look at the user manual, and it doesnt mention using a calendar to pick the date for reminder alarms?!
jarold 22-03-2004, 12:36 PM I've just tried it:-
Select the Calendar application
Scroll to the day
Press the Left soft key (Options)
Select New Entry
Select Meeting
Enter the subject, location, start time, end time, start date (defaulting to the date you already selected), end date (defaulting to the date you selected), Alarm On/Off (Off is the default)
DAN55 22-03-2004, 12:40 PM Jarold:
and.... ?
so when you select alarm on, and are then prompted for date/time of reminder, there is an option to use a date picker (popup calendar) to select the date?
ta
jarold 22-03-2004, 02:08 PM Could be I misunderstood.
I thought you were asking if you could set the reminder alarm via a date picker and the answer is yes if you go via the Calendar application where you manage your meetings/memos/events.
If you go the other way, ie:-
Menu/Extras/Clock/Options/Set alarm
then no, there is no way to use a date picker, you can only set the time
DAN55 22-03-2004, 02:12 PM cool, thanks Jarold.
thats what i was trying to say.....i think?!
do you get a picker for the date of the actual event too? or does it only allow you to enter the dd.mm.yy as digits?
ta
willbrady 24-03-2004, 11:34 AM Hi Jarold.
Do you know if it is possible to play .mp3 thru the BT headset?
Some .mp3 software on symbian phones do not play thru BT headsets for some reason, ultraMP3 for example.
