a) Is anybody else strugling with using the 6600 as a modem via IrDa??
b) Does anybody know where I can find the *.INF file for a "Nokia 6600 IrDa modem driver"? (using Windows 2000).

I have not been able to use my new 6600 as a modem for my laptop under Win2k. When installing "Modem options" (either from the CD or one downloaded from the net"), I get no question about installing IrDa or Bluetooth drivers. This tells me that the installation program does not detect the infrared port.

Trying to install the modem manually also does not work. I am not sure that I had the right INF file, but Nokia's support site is really bad since it neither have a good knowledge base to search in nor does it have the INF files readily available for downloading.

IrDa works fine with PC-Suite when synchronizing with Outlook.

Yes, I have tried to turn of all IrDa connection settings in PC-suite/mRouter before trying to use the 6600 as a modem.

Nokia tech support helped me. It was emberassly simple: Just make sure you select "MODEM" in the "CONNECT" menu and not "INFRARED" as I did (out of old habit....)

Which CONNECT menu?

John

Just a guess here. 1) you have all the latest and greatest nokia modem drivers downloaded from the nokia site and you probably installed the pc suite. It sound like he means that on the phone when you click menu then click on the connect folder, you click on MODEM and not infrared, then you will see: "Connect via infrared" as an option.
