Some guy talked to a manager at Nokia and the dude sayed that it will be out december 10. It remains to be seen if its true. And the other one that the italian guy is working on is going to cost a little bit of cash.

I got all the theme to work together nicely.

All you need to do is to create new directory in the E:/system/skins similar to 101f861c, 101f862c, etc then modified the original Climber.skn and 101f860C.ini and put them in the new directory together with the new mbm file. I cannot explain how to do it but I cam email anybody who want the .skn and .ini file associated with the new skin.

The next time you open the theme the new theme will be listed.

OK Someone asked me for .skn and .ini files for Crystallize.mbm

Download the attached file. There are two files inside 101F865C.ini and Cristal.skn

Create new folder named 101f865c under E:/system/skins,

Rename Crystallized.mbm to Cristal.mbm(Dont ask me why I renamed it this way. I just want to make it the same length as the name Climber)

Copy the files: Cristal.mbm, and the two .ini and .skn files to the directory

That is all. The next time you open Theme, you will see Cristal.

Now if you want to know how to modified the ini and skn for other themes all you need is just a hex editor. Compare the original Climber.skn and 101F860C.ini to the modified Cristal.skn and 101F865C.ini

Next one is Linux

Create directory the same name as the .ini file.

Rename Linux the same name as .skn file

I hope Nokia going to release Theme Maker(Not Editor). Editor just upen up readily made .mbm file and modified it. A Theme Maker can create a theme from scratch, simplest theme to the most sophisticated theme including the font color, etc. We dont want to base all of our themes on the Climber.mbm right?

Goddamn. I tried with hex editor. Replaced every linux / linuxer word with xboxx or xboxxer, but no.. also folder path changed but still no. It just wont show up in theme list. What am i doing wrong? Could you give more accurate instructions, plz :)

I have a little problem, when i use a different theme like Cristal or Xp theme the icon under SMS menu not change I have the icon of the Default Theme. Like this, when i write an sms i have for one second the defaul icon and after change with the one modified.

Any one know why?
I need to format my phone to resolve it?

He...he...here is the skn and ini file for XBox. Open it up and you will see what went wrong. There are some bytes(near the beginning) in the .skn file you need to change to associate the skn file and the Folder Name.

And here are the rest of the files. CoolIce, Auto, Matrix, Machintosh, and WindowsXP. Enjoy while waiting for the theme editor.

Maybe i check those bytes tomorrow.. but i dont see any reason because you just "released" all what we needed ;)

I guess those who dont want to pay can just use the theme created by others and create their own .skn file. By the way only .mbm and .skn file needed in order to get the theme listed. The .ini file if missing will be created once you change the default setting.

But Really Euro 9.00 is not a lot. But if Nokia come out with their own theme maker and FREE then that is what I am looking for. The weakness of puffo version of Theme Editor is that you still have to prepare the image first with image editing software. Too combersome for me.

Although its nice that someone has made the effort to put together an editor for 6600 themes (wtf is nokia playing at?), it seems to me still a clunky way of doing it.


I would be interested if the author has created a template of some kind for the creation of the relevent bitmaps and what graphics packages he uses.

Because I find creating all the BMP's as separate entities hard work, I have started to put together somthing in Macromedia Fireworks that will slice up a larger image into the correct sized images. This (when done) should let me create and overview the whole new theme on one document in Fireworks, as it would look on the screen of the 6600 and export the slices (pre-named following my own conventions) automatically ready for loading into the Theme Editor.

This is about best way I can figure out of tackling this. Does anyone else use a similar method, or are you creating individual BMP's and never get to see the theme until its sent to the phone?

Same to me, and I will NOT pay for sending, since I need only a unlock key. And THAT is what I will pay.
It means that there are still some major errors in the program
because I cannot pay with my Credit Card, even if it says so.

Yeah man i know that.....i suspect it will approach the skinning in the same way (by importing BMP's into the MBM file and packaging them up as a SIS). I was asking how people deal with the creation of the images before importing them into an editor.

So i discover i noce way to make that i want..

I kind a like the DEFAULTS Nokia 6600 Themes...

Theme 2 and 3 are good... and you can change
the palette color for the selected things..

But the most important thing... i don't like the DEFAULT
Nokia Icons... so i used the WindowsXP Theme Icons...

And BINGO!... Default Theme 2 ... Edit and use the ICONS from WinXP Theme ... i put my own Wallpaper.. and i think that i will stay with this nice look till Nokia or anyone Launch a real good Theme Editor... or.. i see it more good themes to combine :) ...

By Now.. this is my theme :)

BTW! the Crystalized Theme Icons work well too with the DEFAULT THEME ... (white Backgrounf for icons)

My purchase procedure was totally odd. I put my card number at least five times, got three emails, two was cash on delivery and one was creditcard purchase. Even with the Theme Editor we can't change the FONTS COLORs?

I got the Theme Editor and NO WAY to select the White colors on the Main menu buttons and Top Titles ... :mad:

So we always will need to use dark backgrounds for that label in order to get contrasted?... :rolleyes:

24h is gone now.. still havent recieved code.

Ok with you sicjoke ... it was an impulsive post face to the lack of support of this soft ... for those who are interested with the crack, u can find it on yahoo groups.

I cancelled my order about hour ago. If they cant keep their promises, i would not like to be their customer. Sad but true. I think i keep using themes created by other ppl. Lets see does that cancel works out..

Cedar....bit tight posting a crack imho **(removing was the right thing to m8 - Let em get it from IRC or Yahoo)**.

However from my experiences of the theme editor I dont think a crack is going impact the developers any.

This is just my opinion, but the interface for the theme editor is frustrating and the lack of meaningful documentation doesnt help any. Things that piss me off include ...

Scrollbars that dont increment level indicator frames correctly.
Radio Buttons that appear to have no function.
No names on Icons.
meaningless conventions for image names.

Shame, because the thought was there. Points for beating Nokia to it I suppose however lets hope Nokia do a better job.

Here is the way to create/edit an mbm file and turn it into theme without overwritting the Climber one.

To edit/create a mbm, got to http://marirs.net/forum where you'll find tools and explanations (Than u Maryrs ;) ).

To turn your mbm into a theme :

1) In \System\SKINS create a new folder of 8 hexa letters (0-F) (eg ffeedd00)

2) rename your mbm file so it has 7 letters (eg mytheme.mbm)

3) edit attached file mytheme.skn (rename it like your .mbm)

3.1) In first line, replace "CC DD EE FF" by your folder name in reverse order (eg if you name your folder "ffeedd00" replace with "00 DD EE FF")

3.2) In 12th and 13th lines, replace "M.Y.T.h.e.m.e" with the title of your theme (the one which appears on ur phone) ... be carefull : "." betwween letters must be coded "00" in hexa

3.3) Replace all occurences (4) of (m.y.t.h.e.m.e) by the name of your mbm file ... "." between letters is also coded "00"

4) Put .skn and .mbm in this folder (.ini will be created automatically)

I am still holding out for a properly documented, full WYSIWYG theme editor. I just want to draw and install on the phone, arse to all the fannying around with MBM files and all this 733t h@x0r gayness and I certainly cant be doing with a badly translated, none documented, unsupported, bit of shareware.

NOKIA pull yer fingers out and sort out a real theme editor! Whats the point of providing the functionality on the device and then not providing any kind of support for it u norks!

One thing that is *must* have to be in this kind of program is picture scaling. Even if you take bigger photo, it could scale it down to proper size and not like now, just showing upperleft corner.

I bought the program too,..have recieved the confirmation, where it says € 18 !

Have NOT recieved the reg-code,..wrote their support 3 times, no reply,..ohh yes, they did reply once,..they send me the blody confirmation of purchase 2 more times !!

Getting pretty sick of this,...right now I dont know what to think, but I do know one thing,..I will never ever buy anything from THAT shop again !


usually I use reg programs, but this is just too far out !

Why shouldnt we use an "un-official version",..we bought the program !

Hi,

The new Nokia Theme editor needs Win2000 to work, but It has been found that in XP if you change the properties of the program to run in 2000 compatability mode it runs fine.

I don't think you can do this in 98 though, so the only thing to do is wait. I'm sure another is coming along to be released.

Or you can run the compatibility wizard in XP TOOLS,....set compatilibility to WIN2000...

I'm running XP Pro,..but still can only install approx 75%,..then it stops,..dont know why ?

I know people that use it on XP,..so it does work,..but very slow!
