View Full Version : [7650] spectrum emulator? 18-08-2002, 11:06 AM Anyone got any news on a speccy for the Nokia 7650? Thanks GG TANKERx 18-08-2002, 11:56 AM Would such a thing have legs? What about the keyboard controls? Hmmmmm, it would be interesting to see how such a thing could be achieved. Merlin 25-09-2002, 01:29 PM Should be possible. There's a spec emulator for the GBA and that has less keys than the number pad buttons on the 7650. Could be good with the joystick! n1ghtFLY 25-09-2002, 01:32 PM can u tell me what is spectrum analyser do ???? J2theIZZO 25-09-2002, 01:36 PM can u tell me what is spectrum analyser do ???? Your joking right? :D Merlin 25-09-2002, 01:38 PM Nope, but we could tell you what a Spectrum "EMULATOR" does! 25-09-2002, 01:39 PM A person who looks for trends in old computer games :D J2theIZZO 25-09-2002, 01:42 PM A person who looks for trends in old computer games :D Wahchild, :D :D Al3xandr3 25-09-2002, 03:33 PM i think that that is a really good idea. the games are small (kb talking) and the controllers are not a big deal. As i remember, almost every game used 4 keys (q,a,o,p) sometimes de space or enter key... The big thing is how can somebody do a emulator... steve_perry 25-09-2002, 08:14 PM I'd prefer a "BBC Micro" emulator :P for a better class of retro game. Elite would rock and anyone for Revs? S. :P omar_k 25-09-2002, 11:39 PM We all know that the C64 was THE machine and not the spectrum :D J2theIZZO 26-09-2002, 07:04 AM We all know that the C64 was THE machine and not the spectrum :D Agreed. :P Merlin 26-09-2002, 10:54 AM J2theIzzo, Question: What's the "MOVED" tag for in the listing of this subject? 26-09-2002, 11:33 AM Hi, I asked Wildpalm last night if they are porting their 9200 speccy to the 7650 and they said they are but it will obviously only work for joystick games Later Stot Dazler 26-09-2002, 11:53 AM Merlin, the move tag is because I moved this topic to the new forum. The Symbian Gaming forum. Because this is a game thread (if I wasn't mistaking ;) ) Ewan 26-09-2002, 11:59 AM can u tell me what is spectrum analyser do ???? Your joking right? :D BUt surely the rear camera could be used to analyze gaseous compounds? Ewan 26-09-2002, 11:59 AM We all know that the C64 was THE machine and not the spectrum :D Disagree Merlin 26-09-2002, 02:00 PM Dazler, thanks for the response. I'm not saying you're wrong, but I thought this was about the possibility of a spec emulator being ported to the 7650, not simply about games. Oh well, that's just my opinion. Keep up the good work ;) Dazler 26-09-2002, 02:14 PM After going trough 1700 topics, I just moved everything that seem to involve games :) The only things I saw about the spectrum were games, didn't know it could do other things :) I never heard of it before until I saw the emulator from wildpalm ;) Merlin 26-09-2002, 02:42 PM Dazler, no problem. 1700 topics is a huge amount to deal with. As for the spectrum, it was predominantly a games computer, but it could be used for doing other things. It was the first ever, mass market computer available to the general public. For anyone interested in more about Sinclair's spectrum. See here: http://www.nvg.ntnu.no/sinclair/ mari0 27-01-2003, 07:05 PM hi! i would love to see a spectrum emulator for my 7650, as for the joystick... why not try a virtual joystick (!!!???) so we will be able to play non joystick games. i will try to explain, if a game need the famous keys (O, P, Q, A) to move and no joystick support, after loading the game we will be abble to assign the joystick up to do the "Q" key, the joystick down the "A" key, etc... please someone do this, PLEASE!!! i would love to play manic miner and chuckie egg :D hugs, mari0 Velocity Boy 27-01-2003, 10:40 PM Well...if you follow the first link on the Wildpalm site to free (LEGAL) GameBoy ROMS - you will GameBoy ports of Manic Miner, Jet Set Willy, Jet Pac & PSST - 4 CLASSIC Spectrum games D P D Manic Miner is a faithfull port and looks great (for a 20 year old game!!) plus there's a 'cheat' mode where you can choose which one of the 20 levels you want to start on. Simple but effective P I really hope Wildpalm can produce a 7650 version of GoBoy or a Spectrum emu with sound - apparently though the ZX Spectrum sound chip is/was so basic/crap that trying to emulate it with better technology is actually quite difficult(!!) - I know this because there was a Spectrum emu written for the Sega Dreamcast - and this too lacked sound cry BTW - the ZX Sectrum was KING in the 80's - people who had C64's or BBC B's were ususally middle class kids whose parents had bought them the computer (we didn't have PC's then D ) so they could do their homework on it and their Mum or Dad could 'do the accounts'. Both machines had about two games between them, compared to the thousands written for the Spectrum and the C64/BBC owners kidded themselves they had better machines than the Spectrum - if only someone had written software for them... I'm sorry, but I think readers of a certain age will know what I mean... bday Zipper 28-01-2003, 12:33 AM Would be ace!!! So is this thing LIKELY or not? mrcommodore64 28-01-2003, 11:50 AM pffffft i say you englanders just keep protective with your lousy homecomputer and sir clive sinclair. C64 was the major selling computer in the WORLD (yeah i know its difficult to see things outside the shady-island) it had much more programs than ZX-family. Have you been brainwashed for not seeing this then? Or are you just reading some of "facts" which this thread seems to pour. Dont get me wrong thought, i had zx81, ZX Spectrum 16/32 too. Im not bashing the greatness of the rubbermat nor the quality of programs with it. I just never got used to its nice feel keyboard (yeas there were normal ones too), to its sounds and to its clip'n'clued gfx. This is pure IMHO so think that before you hit "reply". :D Merlin 28-01-2003, 05:14 PM <[the C64] it had much more programs than ZX-family> On what basis can you confirm this to be true? Can you provide proof to your supposed fact, or is it just something you've come up with yourself? 28-01-2003, 06:04 PM Ok starting the 8 bits war i love my Spectrum. I loved all the aspects of this machine and the thousands of games i had. And if the only limatiton people have to attack is the 2 colors per pixel then i loved the 2 colors per pixel. And well, i can watch commodore without problems but what about CPC 64 form Amstrad? i hate this computer. God save Sir Clive. naivri 28-01-2003, 07:47 PM grow up boys dont make this a spectrum vs c64 make it a fair fight ! what was better zx spectrum or a broken abacus with no balls mrcommodore64 29-01-2003, 08:55 AM <[the C64] it had much more programs than ZX-family> On what basis can you confirm this to be true? Can you provide proof to your supposed fact, or is it just something you've come up with yourself? have a cup of tea and relax boy. ftp://ftp.void.jump.org/pub/sinclair/ (99.9% of ZX releases) i cant show you the C64 -archive (its illegal me thinks) so actually i cant confirm my words. sry bout that. ;) So , cause im not after for more flames, ill say this happily : Spectrum Family had more programs than Commodore's :D naivri 30-01-2003, 08:12 PM c64 only owned by middle class kids ?!?!? heres a tip look in the guiness book of records under biggest selling computer model of all time. thats a lot of middle class kids ( > 30 million ) Mr Gar 30-01-2003, 10:37 PM Mmmm Magic Land Dizzy on my 7650!!! That's it i'm off to learn C++ and write my own emulator. |
