I have just purchased a Kondor Bluetooth USB Adaptor and is connected to my Mac running OS X.

I wanted to try out surfing with BT but afterwards I noticed my credit had gone down by about a pound. I was using Opera and IM+. I am using the settings below:-
Connection name: Bluetooth DSL
Date bearer: GPRS
Access pont name: none
User name: None
Prompt password: No
Password: None (default)
Authentication: Secure
Gateway IP address: 0.0.0.0

I am on Vodafone(UK) Smartstep PAYG

Could this be a quirk of using on my Mac? Anyone else had this problem?

If you see a [G] in your phones upper left corner it means that you have a GPRS connection. And I think you should see if you're using GPRS from the speed of downloading.

Change the access point name to bt (for example) so it shouldn't even try to make an gprs connection, or atleast it didn't work for me. Otherwise it would, if bluetooth wouldn't work.

You also should have a running serial connection between your phone and your mac. Can't really help, because i've a pc.

Maybe your phone is automaticaly detecting the GPRS settings,never happened to me though(don't have GPRS :D ) but i've read many posts of similar subject.

try checking the GPRS counter to see whether there is any data downloaded or uploaded. My 7650 also flashes the GPRS symbol but there is no real data traffic...

Well I have half solved problem.

I am using the PC for when I want to use 7650 to use Internet. I think the problem is the Mac not having (or me not finding) an app like mRouter.

But most of the time I leave the BT adaptor in the Mac, as I like the Apple Address book. It even copies the contacts photos and when a call comes in it displays details on screen and offers 3 options to:-
Answer (you then need to pick up phone, use speakerphone option or headset)
Voicemail (Send call to voicemail)
SMS (Send SMS to caller).
