Its an interesting concept, and I can understand the frustration with next year always being the year of the smartphone... But I think when the p800 comes on stream, well then people might take Symbian more seriously.

What is it with these apostates?

I've ranted about this on another site where Christensen gave Nokia a slap about its 'closed standards'.

He said "<I>Nokia talks about the mobile internet and tries to develop standards that are unique to it..... but we [Microsoft] think there should be just one internet</I>".

And of course, he now works for the IT industry's Bob Geldof and Mother Teresa.

MMS isn't closed and neither is Symbian.

I think there may be some money being handed around in the corridors of power because Symbian is frightening its opponents.

The 7650 is coming very soon, as is the P800. Innovative technology (such as Magpie) is being pushed with support from hardware and software vendors alike.

This chap you're on about, Rafe, may be succesful in the market that sells phones like those old Motorolas that were free five years ago, but not in the kind of market that really matters, that really innovates!

Also, I took a look at the site that The Register quoted and it looks like a 'Microsoft invented kindness and love' kind of site....

Ooooh! I can feel my blood boil just thinking about these plonkers!<font size=-1>[ This Message was edited by TANKERx on 2002-05-24 1307 ]</font>
