Every time I try to start MGS Karting, I get this error:
App. closed MGS KERN-EXEC 0
I can run silverball, steelwarrior etc ok
firmware vers 4.39, mgs 1.9, 952k free mem according to app manager.
anybody else noticed this? I don't really want to format the phone .. :)

same here!!!
i thought it could be a conflict with Sdoubler, so i decompressed it but that did not work.
i could try to reinstall MGSKarting, but i need to know what caused this and how to fix it.

I solved it!!!!

Uninstall MGS and all MGS games
Delete c:\101
Reinstall MGS and then Karting! :)
(note you may get away with deleting just c:\101\bin\KXRacer.dll - that was the only file i had left in the 101 folder)
tell me if it works!

Blimmen hell, it started happening again.
That exact same error.
Also I have no sound in MGS Karting.
I didn't uninstall this time, I just moved the above dll file. The game started working again! Does it even need this file? When the file is there it crashes, but when it's not there it runs fine?? wtf is going on?.
